National TSA is collaborating with ABC and esteemed news reporter
Diane Sawyer on a primetime television documentary about children
with Tourette Syndrome.
The program is currently in the research and development stages, and
TSA is cooperating with ABC on its research.
We are helping ABC locate possible young candidates for referral to
the producers for initial telephone interviews. These interviews may
or may not lead to face-to-face meetings. In the meantime, we are
looking for families with children between the ages of 5 -16. Please
note that although it is our goal to identify possible candidates and
to provide informational resources to the producers, ABC -- and ABC
alone -- will have the final decisions about which children might be
included in the program.
Generally, we are seeking youngsters who are comfortable talking
about their TS symptoms and are fairly articulate. Children who have
found ways to benefit from a variety of coping mechanisms such as
participation in sports, playing musical instruments, the arts or
other games/hobbies are of particular interest.
The overall objective of this documentary is to educate, raise
awareness and increase social acceptance by the peers of all children
(and adults) with TS.
Interested families should contact me at tracy.flynn@....
Please be sure to include information about the child and briefly
describe his or her TS symptoms. Also be sure to include the child's
name, a mailing address and phone number where a parent or guardian
can be reached by ABC producers if they would like additional
information.
We are looking forward to generating a lot of positive awareness via
this documentary and greatly appreciate your assistance.
Regards,
Tracy
