Hey Lamar
I know the feeling of helping to keep your mind off your own troubles, but I
also like to check on some here in the group when they haven`t posted in a
while, and you all know who you are, but I do that out of care and love not
to keep my mind off my troubles,
I will remember you in prayers and Michael and Darlene
You gotta believe that the docs will hit on the right meds
GOD Bless

All,
I had previously told you about some of the things I have been going through
surgery, having to have major home repairs done, and a dangerously high BP.
As Darlene said, I am not doing as well as I would like. My shoulder still
has intense pain at times and I suspect another surgery may be in order. The
BP has been partly controlled, but I am retaining fluids. This has happened
before but has not lasted this long. It's frightening because I saw my
mother and grandmother with CMT go through the same thing. It is not JUST
swelling. My left foot is nearly 6 inches thick from the top of the arch to
the sole. My calves are about 4-5 inches larger than normal for me. On some
days I have not been able to fasten my AFO's and could not manage to get
even my deepest shoes on. It also creates another problem, the swelling in
the feet is not only on top. The sole is "rounded" so I have much more
difficulty standing.
Today the doctor added Lasix 40mg twice a day and switched the diuretic I
was already on, as well as adding Potassium. I hope this helps. In my mother
and grandmother strong diuretics made little difference in the edema. The
doctors all felt that a lot of the problem was due to the CMT damaging the
nerves that controlled the valves in the veins. One thing for sure, strong
diuretics and difficulty walking are not a good combination! LOL.
To add to these, the doctor is setting up a special CAT scan and MRI of the
three year old surgical incision on my hip. It keeps opening and seeping.
They suspect either some bone fragments or a pocket of the staph infection I
had are inside. If it is either, it will likely mean another surgery there.
So, I am not doing as well as I could be, but these are hurdles like
everything else in life. They require adaptations, but I surely am not
through fighting yet.
Michael will be leaving for college next weekend. It will be a big change
for him, but I know he is capable. I well remember the changes going off to
the same school (Georgia Southern University) were in my life. I have a lot
of confidence in him, but would appreciate your prayers.
I have not said a lot about what I have been going through previously, but
will appreciate any prayers. I feel much better if I am making some effort
to help another than lamenting about my own problems.
Lamar

Hi, group!
I am Lamar's ex-wife and Michael's mom. I have stayed off the site,
as I didn't want anyone to think I was butting in where I wasn't
welcome, or whatever.
I know Derrick and Nancy, Lamar's cousins, from our marriage. I
still think the world of them.
I have enjoyed communicating with SHANNON(!). She's the greatest,
an inspiration, and reminds me of myself, when I was a teenager, to
be honest, with her poetry, love of God (I wanted to become a
preacher), and caring for her fellow persons.
Well, as Lamar's ex, I COULD get on here and say a lot of bad
things about him, but, that's not in my heart to do. I, of course,
had problems with Lamar, but that's between me and him, and I have
gone above-and-beyond the call, to not let ANYONE in my family EVER
speak negatively of him in Michael's presence, until Michael was of
the age to defend/make his own opinion, etc.
Lamar is not doing well, at all. His blood pressure is up, his feet
are swollen tremendously after his return from a visit with Alice,
and he is, of course, pretty down. Michael and I are VERY concerned
about him, and have been calling, etc. We were in Thomasville, from
Thursday until yesterday, and saw him Sunday. Alice had sent a gift
for Michael, and we went by to get it and helped him unload the van
from the trip.
All this is very stressful for Michael, as he is planning on
starting college at GSU in Statesboro, GA, on Saturday. He's
apprehensive about school (never really been away from home) and
really concerned about his dad.
Please!! Keep Lamar and Michael in your prayers, especially Lamar.
Lamar may have his faults, but he is, deep-down, a good person. I
admire him for starting this site for support, no matter whose idea
it was.......HE actually did it, and it has been very successful.
Well, that's about it from the old ex, but I DO ask that you really
pray for him, that his health will improve.
Take care and thank you for all the support you give!
Love in Christ,
Darlene
