thanks, Kathy, for your nice note. i live in north central florida, near
gainesville. i have also lived in tucson, los angeles, and san antonio. i love
it here in the country of florida. my MCS does not seem to mind where i live in
general, though i must always avoid pesticides, herbicides, etc. there are more
of these here in florida but i am dealing with it fairly well, with a lot of
careful monitoring of where i go and what comes into my home, etc.
i think i am going to get a FIR heater and try it out. it is likely that the
radiation will bother me but i am hoping it will be somewhat different from
other kinds of heaters.
be well!

>>Welcome to the group Sara; Where do you live? I live in Canada, Ottawa,
Ontario to be exact. I have FM, hypothyroid, mental health issues, GERD and I
think that's it, or am i forgetting something (fibrofog, lol). I've been very
active in FM support groups since my diagnosis in 1992/93. including aquafitness
for FM as well. I am on disability. I have a daughter with FM and another
daughter with MPS (myosfascial pain syndrome and other medical problems since
birth). I first started symptoms of FM in 1988 and went the whole gammut of
seeing doctors and having tests done in 1988

Subject: [CFS-FMS_FIRST-Aid] FIR and sensitivity to heaters
greetings,
i am new to this group. i have had FM for many years, and MCS (i am
called a "universal reactor") since about 97. there are few kinds of
heaters that i have been able to tolerate. ceramic and quartz
heaters have bothered me greatly, as well as all open, glowing metal
element heaters, plus oil filled radiators. the only kind of heating
i do not overtly react to is central forced air heat. i would dearly
like to start sauna, as i have recently finished mercury amalgam
removal from my teeth and need to begin serious detox. my
sensitivities have precluded vitamins or supplements. a sauna seems
like the first step...only how to heat one?
i truly appreciated the article i just read by Jim about FIR saunas
at home in your own bathroom. i hope i can come up with something!
any comments?
thank you!
sara
