Dear CEFSFB Group,
My name is Briana O'Higgins and I am a graduate student in the Social
Documentation Program at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I
am a documentarian in the medium of sound; I have worked for NPR
(National Public Radio) in Ohio as a producer and host and I work as a
host for the public radio station in Santa Cruz. I am currently
working on a project about women with CFS/ME or FM. It is my intention
to collect the stories of women who live with CFS/FM in attempt to
document and understand the experience of living with a chronic
illness that is often not taken seriously. I am not only interested in
stories of diagnosis (or lack thereof), but also the daily lived
experience of these women.
I am a woman with chronic illness (Lupus/SLE) and have done research
on the experiences of women with chronic illness for many years.
Would any of you be willing to participate? I would love to sit down
and talk with one or more women who would be willing to share their
stories. The interview would be recorded in sound only. At the end I
hope to have a broadcast worthy documentary, as well as a useful tool
for women (or men) who enter the murky waters of CFS/FM. Please give
any and all contact information to people you know that may be interested.
Thank you for your time,
Briana O'Higgins
