I've been chatting off and on with Sharon about planning a San Francisco
screening of
Living With Fibromyalgia: A Journey of Hope and Understanding, a documentary
film my
husband and I produced after my mom got dianosed with fibromyalgia. Although
there is a
good bit of medical information, the film focuses on the stories of seven
different patients
because I believe that we learn and empathize best through story. I really
wanted to
produce a film that the whole family could sit down and watch to get a baseline
of
information--and most importantly, hope--when they first heard that strange word
"fibromyalgia."
We're working with the National Fibromyalgia Association (who was instrumental
in
making the film) on a Bay Area screening. As I started this film while we were
living in San
Diego, I'm not as familiar with the FM community in the city and would like to
know about
how many people we might expect for a screening. Does anyone have a sense of the
size
of the FM community here? Especially the size of the active community who would
want to
attend a community screening?
Last month we had a screening in San Diego's Landmark Theatre (turnout of
300--the
max capacity) with a panel discussion with local providers and the filmmakers
afterwards.
We'd love to have a similar screening here.
Thanks so much for your input. If you'd like to read more about the film, visit
