This isn't Jim, but as a member of this Yahoo Group I felt compelled to be the one to answer your question. You see, I am the facilitator of the Berkeley Fibromyalgia Support Group, so yes, there is a group in Berkeley. I've attached a copy of our current flyer, which explains much of the information you would need.
However, I will reiterate that we meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month, except December. Additionally, every other month we have a speaker and on the alternate months, we have rap sessions, some of which have a focus topic, and some which do not.
If you need any additional information, feel free to contact me directly at fibro@... (which, will change in January '09), or here at the CEFSFB group again. I'll see it either way.
If you interested in working with me on needed tasks in running this group, I welcome assistance or even a potential partnership. I am beginning to plan the November Pot Luck Social and can use all the help I can get. There's planning, logistics, invitations and logistics to be done, and to do it right, requires more than one person.
Please write me privately at fibro@... if you'd like to be on our mailing/phone/e-mail list, so that you can receive a November flyer in the mail and reminder e-mails for Oct. and Nov. meetings. If you prefer to leave off a any of the requested information, feel free to do so, but remember, that it's best if we have it all. I do not keep a separate list for my own use, so cannot record any of that information just for my own use.
I hope this information helps and I look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to our group. By the way, YES, please feel free to bring any support people you wish: family members, attendants or other care-givers, or friends. We encourage and love it when support people are interested in learning more about what we go through. We provide education, information, moral and emotional support and humor when appropriate. Our speakers and topics cover all varieties of subjects and they are experts with diverse expertise: from MD's, to body workers, to Neur-and Psychotherapists, Alternative Medicine practitioners, and more. I'm also always up for suggestions ideas for future speakers.
Cheers,
Deborah Rich
Facilitator,
Berkeley FM Support Group
P.S. For anyone else reading this who would like to be on our mailing list, even if you do not think you'd be able to come to meetings frequently, please feel free to write me with your information as well.

Hi Jim. I have a general question...is there a group that meets in
Berkeley?? I think I would like to try and make one? If not, is it ok
to bring a family member (hubby or mom)? They help me out a lot. Thank
you, Melanie
