Our new member, Franky, is helping to produce a documentary about CFIDS which will include Dr. Montoya, a very popular Dr. in this area.  He'd like to know if anyone would like to help.  Read details below.

He'd also like to know if any folks are in his neighborhood, the Castro, or if there are any others who are LGBT.  Or if there are any artists.

Franky,

Welcome to the group!!  And thank you soooo much for helping to create this documentary!

I'm not an artist, but I am a lesbian, and there are plenty of LGBT folks on this list.  The SF CFIDS and FM In-person Support group is also pretty diverse, and meets in the Castro.  Hope you can make it some time.

Hello all!

This is my questionare responces.

I wish you very well,

Franky :-)

*How did you come to learn about this group?
---I learned about this group from craigslist

*1) Name
---Franky

*2) Age
---30

*3) What medical conditions do you have, or think you may have?
---I have had CFS since my teenage years. I have been up and down, in a very low point now. But my spirits are high.

*4)Are you the friend or family of someone w/ one of these illnesses?
---I am the guy with the illness, though I do have friends with it as well.

*5) Male/female
---Male.

6) Town or City you live in
---San Francisco, Castro district (Any neighbors?)

7) Ethnicity
---This is the question that even strangers ask me all the time. I am a large mix of Euro / Native American / mystery

8) Sexual orientation/Gender Identity (I ask this question bc/ many gay, lesbian, and transgendered people w/ these illnesses have expressed that they feel more comfortable in groups like this, if they know that there are others like them in it.  I am a lesbian.)
---I identify as a gay male.  --On a good day.. Just kidding, I am gay everyday, no matter the day. ;-) (obviously, I'm also a dork.) I have been on a search for LGBT CFSers for a while in fact. Being LGBT is just another layer of societal difference and it is nice to relate as much as possible. It is nice to connect with ALL who live with this though.

9) Level of functionality - i.e. homebound - unable to cook or clean for self, able to get out a few days in a week, work part-time, work full-time
---I am an Intuitive Life Coach, though my work hours are iiiiincredibly limited, about ten hours per month or so. I am pretty much home-bound 90%.These last few day, I have been bed-ridden though.

10) Questions you have for the group i.e. "does anyone have a good rheumatologists who knows how to treat FM," "does anyone have a good Kaiser doctor," "would anyone like a walking buddy," "would anyone like a phone buddy"
---Is anyone an artist? How about LGBT? (Otherwise, I can still love and embrace you all)

11) Interests you have that have nothing to do w/ your illness(es)
---I used to tour as a professional singer and performer. I still love to record at home and do artwork when I can. I really love empowering people through arts and education as well as spirituality.

12) Anything else you want to say about yourself.
---I worked very hard to get a local production company to agree to do a full-scale documentary film on CFS. We have been able to get Dr Montoya at Stanford (as well as the Stanford Press Room) to agree to participate in the film. Anyone who would like to help in any way, please let me know. :-) (I cannot guarantee anything as far as on-camera time if that is what you want, but you never know. Anything may help.) I REALLY wish I had a non-profit for people to donate to, posted on the film.
