Here’s a reminder to RSVP for this Sat’s support
group session if you have not done so. It is indeed a privilege to have Shangpa
Rinpoche with us for this Sat, so do come down if you are able to make it.
One of the best forms of dana (giving), please help if you
can, or at least pass the word around. Thanks!
Dear friends,
I am sorry to have to mass
mail everyone but the matter is very urgent and possibly one of life and death.
A friend of mine is a
medical officer with the HSA Bloodbank. He drew my attention to the fact that
our blood reserves, esp. for certain blood groups, are very critically low. You
can view the current blood stock by visiting http://www.donorweb.org.
The situation is particularly dire given the long Chinese New Year holiday that
is upcoming when the input basically stops - but the demand is likely to
increase. You can help by:
c) if you are a member of a
club, society or religious organisation that you think will be able to get the organisation
to help on a bigger scale, the Singapore Red Cross is prepared to arrange for
their bloodmobile to come by your place for your members to donate blood.
Please contact Miss Lynn Tan of the Singapore Red Cross Society at 6220 0183 or
email lynn.tay@...
This call is dated 17
January 2006.
What better way to celebrate
Chinese New Year by helping to save a life.
Thanks for reply. Im ok on february session. please do let me know the date & time. thank you very much.

Yenny

Professional Training Seminar”
Shan You Counselling Centre is a non-profit voluntary welfare organization
providing counselling and social services to the community regardless of

Health care personnel such as general practitioners, dieticians,

Dear brothers and sisters,
We will be having our first two BSS support group sessions on the following
dates:
21 January (Saturday) 4 - 6.30 pm - to be conducted in English
18 Feburary (Saturday) 4 - 6.30 pm - to be conducted in Mandarin
Tentatively, we will be holding the support group sessions on every THIRD
saturday 4 - 6.30 pm, to be conducted in English on odd months, and in
Mandarin for even months. The topics for each English and Chinese session
will be the same for every 2 months (e.g. Jan and Feb, Mar and April...)
and you can feel free to attend either, or both if you are comfortable in
both languages.
The details of the sessions e.g. topics, speakers will be out once
confirmed. In the meantime, I would appreciate it if you can give me your
tentative confirmation of whether you can make it for the sessions.
Thank you very much!
With metta,
Lena

Hello,
I just saw that there is a second question!
The deadline for registration for this course is 1 February. Please let me
know of your interest before 15 January so that I have sufficient time to
do the required adminstration for the VCF subsidy and course registration.
Thank you!
With metta,
Lena

2) We are planning for bi-monthly support group sessions for BSS volunteers
starting in 2006! These support group sessions would consist of an
educational component as well as provide a chance for volunteers to share
their experience and knowledge. I have tentatively planned for the sessions
to be on the THIRD Saturday morning of every odd number month e.g. January
21, March 18.... I need to find from you guys, if this fits into your
schedule? If not, please notify me, as if there are a lot who cannot make
it on Saturday mornings, I will choose another timing that will suit most
number of volunteers' schedules. Also, please feel free to give me your
suggestions on what you would like to see in the support group sessions. It
wld be great if you can be SPECIFIC... i will try to incorporate them in
the planning of the sessions.
3) There are still a large number of you who have not joined the
BuddhistSupportServices yahoogroups mailing list. Please visit this url:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/BuddhistSupportServices and join the
group. It will help me greatly in keeping track of the volunteer database
and dissemination of information in the future. Thank you very much for
your cooperation!
Last but not least, here's wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year! Do enjoy the festive season and may you all be well and happy
always!
With metta,
Lena

A lotus may be simple but still complex enough. Perhaps you would like to do a different design of a lotus, a refreshing look. For me, the more I look at simple things, the more wonder there are.
Thanks for all the suggestions... I'll keep them in mind in looking for
pictures for BSS brochure. But let's keep the brainstorming going! :)

Subject: Help for Weight Management Publicity Please
Dear Friends/ Associates of Shan You
Shan You is pleased to present you: 5-part English Weight Management Series
(seminar cum workshops). Unlike the commercial weight management workshops,
we understand the importance of approaching it holistically. Hence we are
approaching the seminar and workshops from the psychological and dietary
angles, in a highly scientific and logical manner. The seminar will be
followed by two workshops led by the psychologist, Dr Lim Kok Kwang
(Clinical Advisor of Shan You Counselling Centre and President, Singapore
Society of Clinical Hypnosis and Diplomat, International Academy of
Behavioural Medicine, Counselling and Psychotherapy) and two workshops led
by Mr Daniel Dittmar (Exercise Psychologist and Director, Corporate Health
Initiative).
Participants for the seminar can expect to gain knowledge on what slimming
pills really are, how to manage weight in a healthy way, psychological
techniques to overcome cravings and simple physical techniques to a strong,
healthy mind and body. Through the workshops which are more experiential in
nature, participants can gain skills such as strategies to break old
unhealthy eating habits and imagery techniques for success and confidence.
They will also be engaged in exercise sessions, pilates techniques and
resistance band exercises.
Please refer to the attached leaflet for more details (venue, dates, time).
Please do not hesitate to contact me or my colleague, Shirley at 6741 9293,
should you have any queries.
Thank you very much for your kind attention.
