I really don’t like running around begging for money like this but, it is for a good cause. On May 21-22, 2005 , I will be riding for 50 miles with my for the "Coast the Coast" Bike Tour benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and it’s Mid-Jersey Chapter. Over 2,500 cyclists and volunteers will participate in this exciting event.
MS is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks your nervous system. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of the disease cannot be predicted and symptoms may range from numbness to paralysis or blindness. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, but the unpredictable physical and emotional effects can last forever. The National MS Society is dedicated to ending the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.
With your help, I hope to make a difference in the lives of those with MS.Over 16,000 families in New Jersey alone are affected by multiple sclerosis. The goal of the event is to raise $1 million in an effort to fund a miracle cure.By riding in this tour, I am taking part in making that miracle happen for so many families. My personal goal is $150.00. Any pledge amount you can offer, $5, $10 or $15 will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your support.
Sincerely,
Kathy
P.S. Please make checks payable to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and send them to me at my home or work address:

>
>You can hear the missiles whistling by, one after another, aimed straight for the alternative health industry. And next August, international governments plan a massive attack. An assault that will wipe out vitamins, minerals and other dietary supplements by 2007 if it goes unchecked.1
>
>That means thousands of supplements Americans use to improve their health will disappear. You won't be able to walk into a store and buy vitamin E. Or amino acids. Or essential fatty acids. You won't even be able to buy enough vitamin C to do you any good. You'll have to go to a pharmacy. And pay three to four times more!2
>
>Today I'll tell you what you can do to keep your right to manage your own health-and continue to have access to vitamins and minerals at a reasonable cost.
>
>* Dealing the Deathblow to Supplements *
>
>For over a decade world governments have tried to restrict your access to supplements through something called the Codex Alimentarius. The Codex was set up among 165 nations to govern food standards...supposedly to ensure international food safety.
>
>But like most things governments get their hands on, it turned into something much different.
>
>In the late '90s German drug companies got Codex to start pushing the idea to classify all supplements as DRUGS! Plus, under the German proposal, Codex would create its own list of "approved" supplements. All others become illegal.3 Two years ago, the European Union accepted this directive and plans to enforce it starting next August. It is a deathblow to supplements in Europe.
>
>I thought the U.S. would never adopt such an extreme restriction but I've had to think again. In 1997, only an 11th-hour blitz by consumer advocates prevented it from happening here. And the matter has come under consideration again.
>
>But Codex isn't the only threat to supplements in the U.S. A recent action in Europe- spearheaded by the Germans-may still get those restrictions enacted another way: through the World Trade Organization.4
>
>When we signed on with the WTO, we agreed to revise our regulations to comply with WTO policies. If we don't, the WTO can bring us before their Dispute Resolution Panel and force us to do so!8
>
>If they have their way-you'll lose access to thousands of natural products forever.
>
>It recently happened in Australia. Over 1300 products were recalled by a government agency. Under very suspicious circumstances. And it devastated health stores there. They had to pull 80% of their inventory off their shelves!
>
>* What You Can Do *
>
>If we want to keep our rights to alternative medicine, we have to stand together. And here's how you can help. Support the case brought by the British Alliance for Natural Health. They've filed suit to overturn the European Food Supplements Directive. You can get more information about it at www.alliance-natural-health.org. Write your state and national politicians and tell them oppose these two acts: S.722, the Dietary Supplement Act, and H.R. 377, the Dietary Supplement Access and Awareness Act.

Subject: RE: liberty science center life science program
Yes Pat, there is still room! I am supposed to send my checks out to LSC
this week but I can hold off til Friday. Can I get your check by then?
Will you be at soccer tomorrow? Or do you live near Scotch Plains to put it
in my mailbox? If you need to, mail it to me tomorrow (Wednesday) and I'll
wait to send mine out Friday and LSC will probably get it by Monday. Do you
have my address? My phone number is 908-889-0117. I am glad you're eager
to stay all day because the center wants an adult there all day and I didn't
want to have to do all four days all day long, although I'll definitely be
there the first day and you're welcome to stay as well. About a month
before the start date I will email everyone and finalize the lunch period
coverage and I'll be sure to put you down for every week as one of the four
lunch parents. I'll also have a list of emergency contacts for the "all-day
parent" if they want it even though the science center will also have
contact information.
Thanks for joining the program! I think it will be great fun for the
kids!!!

>"Oh sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It's been so long since I thought of

>
>As busy as he was, he kept his word. Jack caught the next flight to his

>"Upon my death, please forward this box and its contents to Jack Bennett.
>It's the thing I valued most in my life." A small key was taped to the
>letter. His heart racing, as tears filling his eyes, Jack carefully
>unlocked the box. There inside he found a beautiful gold pocket watch.
>
>Running his fingers slowly over the finely etched casing, he unlatched the
>cover. Inside he found these words engraved:
>"Jack, Thanks for your time! -Harold Belser."
>
>"The thing he valued most...was...my time."
>Jack held the watch for a few minutes, then called his office and cleared

>"I need some time to spend with my son," he said. "Oh, by the way,

gifts for brett
I want to add that it won’t be necessary to wrap these
gifts. I will bring a basket on Christmas eve and we can all add to that one
basket. I will drop the items off in January at the ozaman shelter. That is
actually a better time than during the holidays since many donations come in
then. A month later, there will be new families in the shelter who are in need
of winter clothing like hats, gloves, scarves, etc.

Every day in America, 2,000 more kids become addicted to tobacco...
one third of whom will die prematurely.Big Tobacco has given over $26.5 million
in political donations since 1997. Now they want President Bush to kill the
federal lawsuit against the tobacco industry.
Tell President Bush to protect kids, not Big Tobacco!
If you are as concerned about this fact as I am,
help protect our children by sending a free letter to President Bush.

I am asking that family and friends remember Brett this
Christmas by including him in their Christmas shopping. I want to collect
winter hats, gloves and scarves and donate them to the homeless shelter in MiddlesexCounty. The winter hats, gloves or scarves
could be for women, children or men. The shelter has families and single adults.
It would like to collect them at the Christmas Eve party as part of the gift
exchange.
For anyone on this list who won’t be at Rick and Gina’s,
the items could be dropped by my house anytime.
I think this is a positive way to remember Brett and a way
to do something meaningful in his memory.
Each year, our local support group for survivors of suicide
holds a memorial service during the holiday season. Due to the closing of the
Cenacle Retreat house on River
Road where it was held in the past, this year it
has a new location.
The candlelight vigil will be held Thursday December 2 at
730 at St John Newumann Center 146 Metlers Lane Piscataway.
