Lib's TRAM Flap Story
I had my Tram Flap in Tennessee and was in surgery 10 1/2 hours.
After the surgery, I was in the hospital for almost a week.
I just lay there for days druged and finally, I managed to walk down the
hall, with help.
I was determined I would get better.
I have had a lot of necrosis and had lumps and fluid removed from my breast
and more to be done in August.
My energy level is very low and I have to rest every afternoon. I had the
surgery in 1995 and have had asthma every since.
I have spent the last 2 weeks in bed
recooperating from an attack and have been feeling better the last 2 days.
I have to take at least 5mg of prednazone every day to be able to do
anything, and am taking 11 different prescriptions now.
The beginning of my story started in 1981 when I had a masectomy that the
Dr. recommended because of severe fibrocystic desease.
They [silicone implants] became hard from the very first and I was very
sick, not knowing what was wrong.
I hurt all over and my skin burned, couldn't sleep and finally I just gave
up and had a breakdown.
They gave me prozac and zanax and I finally got better but the implants were
needing to be replaced.
I still didn't know that was what was causing my problems so in 1991, I had
them replaced with more silicone.
The first ones were ruptured but the Dr. didn't send them to a lab that I
could find later, and the hospital didn't have a pathology report so, I had
no proof.
The hospital probably was afraid that I would sue and got rid of the lab
report.
Well, I had the last implants removed in 1994 and then by crazy vanity, I
let a Dr. do the Tram Flap.
He didn't tell me all the complications I could have, because I did smoke,
he told me to stop for 2 weeks before the surgery.
I did, but he still had that to fall back on, when I had necrosis so I have
done nothing but tolorate the pain.
Of course, the story could be much more detailed, but it all would come out
to be the same end.
We can't go to the lake with our family or do the things that we used to
do.
Why do Dr.'s think they can play
God?
