Hi Trisha,
The 3rd ventricle is a very small area of the brain. I almost died when the
colloid cyst reached 15mm in 2001. Now it has grown from 9mm to 11.8mm since
April. I think its significant. We did not have reports to go over at doctor
visit because my scan was only 3 days before my visit.
I have e-mailed my neurosurgoen's nurse to inquire about the growth and while
there is no obstruction apprently, the right side of the forman of monro is more
open than the left. So changes are starting to happen.
When I had surgery in 2001 it as after becoming so altered that I was falling in
and out of consciousness and had slurred speech. Still, I had to over 3 months
from that episode in 10/2000 until my surgery in 02/2001. During that time I
was in bed more than anything else with severe pain.
I work full-time now and I can't afford to be out of work for months prior to
surgery. Also, a lesion in the 3rd ventricle can kill without warning so I
don't think my surgeon brushing this off as nothing because I don't have
hydrocephelus right now isn't exactly the smartest thing to do. Ok maybe that
is to harsh, I have another appointment in January with another scan prior to
that, however, I do want to know if the cyst and the menignioma are growing, I
have a right to know.
Thanks for your advice and for listening.
Jodee
