Many of you know Kim Chrane from Dover, NH who has had multiple surgeries
and treatments for recurrent and multiple meningiomas. Kim is actually one
of the first members of this group and I have had the honor of getting to
know her personally as well as through the list. I consider her one of my
dearest friends.
Unfortunately, Kim has had a rough road recently. She is working on
regaining the ability to walk on her own and has been working diligently at
rehab, both inpatient and out.
I spoke with Kim last week and learned that she has been diagnosed with
malignant meningiomas. Many of you know that it is very rare for a brain
tumor to metastasize to parts of the body outside of the brain; this occurs
in less than 0.1% of cases (or less than 1 out of every 1,000).
Unfortunately, Kim has been diagnosed with metastases of her meningioma to
her liver and her lungs.
Her spirits, as always, are high and she is optimistic. She is exploring
available clinical trials with her doctors and is hopeful about her
prognosis.
She asks that we keep her in our thoughts and prayers. She does not use the
computer often anymore so if you would like to write to her, please send an
email to me or the group and I will make sure she receives them.
I will keep you all updated as I learn more.
Trisha
