Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had some hair loss
weeks after their surgery? Also, I'm experiencing
short term memory loss. I had a parasagittal menigioma
removed June 24 this year. It was an 8 hour surgery
and I'm wondering if all that anesthesia could have
contributed to my symptoms. Please write back if you
have anything similiar. Yhanks, Deb
Hi Deb,
I've been dealing with this tumor for 24 years now and I've had 6 resections.
My short term memory loss became obvious shortly after my fourth resection. My tumor was also located in the parasagital area at that point. So it would be safe for me to say that in all probability your short term memory was due to surgery. The good news is that it can sometimes improve with cognitive therapy. But you must inform your surgeon about your concerns and memory deficits. The bad news is, not everyone fully recovers. I was able to recover to a certain extent. I suffer from short-term memory directly related to surgery. Unfortunately, I've had to adjust to the new and "unimproved me".
By the way, I also began losing quite a bit of hair a few years ago. This began years after permanently losing a good chunk of it to radiation therapy.
All the best,
