It has been 5 years since my surgery and everyone thinks I am all back to
normal, but I am reminded constantly of my surgery. My trigeminal nerves
remind me by the second. I lost my left eyesight and have pretty much
adjusted
to that but I will always wish for that lost wonder.
I work for the USPS. I had the opportunity for a job that involved
memorizing
a "scheme" which is carrier routes. I had a job like this about ten years
ago with
a different scheme, which enabled me to sort mail by this scheme. However,
I could not pass the test for this scheme in the allotted time I was given.
I am
sure it was because after my surgery I have a terrible "short-term memory"
problem which drives me nuts. Of course everyone else thinks I am laying
blame
on my surgery and says it is probably age (just like them). It makes me mad
that
no one believes me when I try to talk about any problems I continue to have
after
my surgery. They all think I am all OK!!
Maybe I would be, but alot of my problems are inside my brain and don't
really
show up like alot of after effects do!! These trigeminal nerves can
sometimes
show up a little bit, by twitching my face a little bit!
But I am never asked how I am doing by any doctors at all, except for by my
psychiatrist!!
I just wondered if there are any other M patients that still suffer from
short term
memory problems after 5 years or more from surgery/treatment??
