Description
Living with a brain tumor, with or without surgery – often is accompanied by feelings of isolation and overwhelm. We may feel unprepared to handle this frightening period in our lives. Communicating with others facing similar circumstances can significantly lessen these feelings of isolation and fear.
This group is for patients with brain tumors and related conditions, their families, friends and health care providers who would like to share their knowledge and experiences. By doing so, it is our hope that we can help this to be a less difficult journey for those who must take it.
Through expression of our ideas, feelings and opinions, we will
(1) have a safe place to communicate concerns about our (or our loved ones’) illness
(2) learn to improve our ability to help ourselves
(3) have an opportunity to help others
(4) help the families manage the many issues which also arise for them as they are also affected
(5) share practical information and resources
(6) assist health care providers by improving their understanding of what they can do to help patients and families
(7) develop ways to make the community more aware of brain tumors/related conditions and educational resources
Utilizing polls and members’ posts, in this online community we collect information. We will disseminate this information to physicians, rehabilitation providers, hospital staff, families and patients in the hopes of helping all to better understand us. More importantly, we do this in order to help future patients be more informed about options and methods which may be helpful.
This "community" is a place for you to turn for support, information and understanding. Each person brings his or her own piece of the puzzle. This is a joint venture.
