Hi groups,
Just found out that ipod is definitely worth the money as it has a little microphone you can buy to add your voice in between songs....it takes a while to get it all downloaded, but I imagine once it is done, it is great!
Would love for us to make a cd to share....each person compile a composer cd with names and info to share with the group.....but, I do not know about the copyight issues, maybe if we are not "selling" them only borrowing them and exchanging them from the downloads we paid for perhaps it would work? i would not want to do anything illegal, just save time with us all working together.
just curious, hope this helps your programs!!!

Cynthia

I have a ton of produced bits on the 11 x 11 cards plus a lot of
blank 11 x 11 cards which I can sell for a very reduced price. I
don't think these would be cost effective to ship, but I live in
metro Atlanta and surely somebody in the area will be interested.

I posted a similar inquiry here some months ago which generated a
number of responses which I failed to act on--mainly because I still
had boxes of bits in many places around the house. These have now
been compiled in a single place (the garage) and so I have a better
grasp on where everything is and how much I have.

For those on the intensive treatment program at The Institutes or a
similar program at The Family Hope Center, I strongly encourage you
to do the program with all the energy and enthusiasm you can muster.
It is well worth your time.

Our son Jimmy enrolled in school three years ago part time--we were
still doing the program in the morning (5 days a week) and in the
afternoon (2 days a week). This last year he went full-time and we've
cut patterning to just Saturdays.

Next year he will be entering his neighborhood middle school on grade
level (6th) with his big sister.

I don't believe his success would have been possible without The Institutes.

Anyway, back to the bits. Who's interested?

Hi group,
Wanted to mention that we have cds flying all over the house and car and decided to try and put them all together onto "1" for the listening program and 1 copy for practice and active listening. Anyone done this?

We are thinking of doing it on a dvd in order to fit all the books we need onto 1 cd....I do not think there is a cd with enough hours to hold it all.....we are thinking now about ipod or another small computer that would play everything.....would be nice to download compositions from 1 artist to listen to for a week as well while we are studying that composer instead of having so many cds..... and we could compile the songs we want......

This also gets me thinking about the possibility of creating a cd/dvd from dowmloads of say "vivaldi" and adding facts about the composer and his life, or other information(such as the name of the piece and the background) as part of musical studies to expand the knowledge of music/compositions before they actually get to those pieces. I suppose this is posible through a microphone before each piece is played from a download. You could do it for all the composers and study 1 per week or 1 per month through a passive listening program. I think the kids would know the names of all the pieces and be very familiar with the artist and be able to identify the difference in styles easily if done this way perhaps.

Anyway, i am certainly not a technical person so I'm wondering if anyone has already tried this.
Thanks in advance,
Cynthia

Hi all,

We're looking for someone to help us with our son's program. We recently visited the FHC and are planning to re-start Andy's program. We're looking to hire someone for 4 to 5 hours a day to help us with the program. I have told family and friends but we still can't find anyone. Any ideas where to go?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,
Has anyone heard of this program? It is a franchise that offers 1 day per week for kids ages 2-7 ....they have a 2 year program in module format that covers all subjects.....the idea is to inspire creativity and critical thinking skills, not just information...they do hands on projects and are able to present information...

...When they do math, it is about exploring why we need math and how we use it more than just the operations of mathmatics....they are trying to get the kids exposed to many topics of discussions and inspire curiosity, so they will become more interested in learning in depth at home. they talk about how we come up with capitals and why, not just the study of the capitals....sounds like a good suppliment to what we do and there are friends to make and see each week.

Is it really as good as it sounds?

So Israel set out with all that was his, and when he reached Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.  And God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said, "Jacob! Jacob!"
        "Here I am," he replied.
"I am God, the God of your father," He said.  "Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there.  I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again. And Joseph's own hand will close your eyes." -- Genesis 46:1-4

Every time I return to this passage, I am struck with the silence of God.  For at least twenty-two years, God knew that Joseph was alive and well in Egypt.  He could have revealed that to Jacob at any time, but, instead, silence.
God said nothing to one of His most trusted servants, to the patriarch that became the father of His chosen people, Israel.  God could have rescued Jacob from his grief and from his anxiety at any time.  But He waited 22 years until this night in Beersheba.

God's word to Jacob brought Jacob's life's story to a close.  He would be reunited with his lost son.  He would die in peace with his family restored.  God's word also began to show Jacob how his life fit into God's bigger plans for His chosen nation.

Hello Everyone,

GREAT NEWS!!!

I have again been asked to speak on the same international conference call that I spoke on a couple of months ago!

After the last call, the host had asked me to keep him updated on Shaylee's progress.  After hearing how she is now standing for 1 minute and 42 seconds by herself as well as taking about 10 steps with just my thumbs resting on the backs of her hips - not holding her at all - he was very amazed.  He asked if I would be willing to come on the call again and just let folks know how the glyconutritionals are continuing to help her.  So I said yes.

The call will have several guests speaking as well as a health professional again I believe.  The host is going to get back with me later tonight to get me the phone number for the call.  The call is at 9:00 pm EST - Thursday July 7/05.

Anyone can dial in to the call.  Drop me an email or give me a call at 306-692-5879 and I will get you the phone number and PIN.  You are also free (encouraged is the word the host used) to pass along the phone number to anyone else that you know, love or care about who may be interested in the glyconutritionals.  It is a great opportunity to learn more about them and how they help many people with many different health challenges.

Talk to you soon,
Nancy

Hi, we have used the glyconutritionals from Mannatech with our daughter for
the past year. In her case, within a week her constipation was gone and has
never returned. As for being irritable, it is possible that some kids do
get irritable, because as the body cleanses itself of irritants and toxins,
you do feel uncomfortable. But if you ride it out, you soon get past that
stage and feel wonderful as the body heals and repairs itself right from the
cellular level.

I tried something like than from mannatech for Zachary. It was very
expensive and made him so irritable and constipated.

We have done an actual stem cell transplant. Have you looked into that?

this could be an alternative for putting isa down in regular bathtub
and lifting her out of it , i can use a chair but i really like isa soaking
  in the water .
i like that the side are padded because isa can go wild in the bathtub
kicking and pedalling and in the hard one she always bang her knees , or her
nose and it hurts , so she become really worried and not enjoying her bath
much knowing she could hurt herself .
with this one she won't worry about hurting herself .
did anybody on the group use this bathtub ??
what do you think of it ??

Dear friends,

Diane Vincentz of ABR Denmark asked me to write a short article about Gerard's progress with ABR to be placed an a German magazine. Here is the article:

Gerard Montocchio was born on 10 October 1995 in Vienna. When he was 2 days old, the doctors discovered that he had a serious heart defect, Transposition of the Greater Arteries. He was immediately operated upon, and had a rough time for quite a while, including a period on a heart-lung machine, kidney failure and dialysis, heart failure briefly, and then at the age of 17 days, he had an arterial Switch Operation <http://216.185.112.5/presenter.jhtml?identifier=11074>  to correct the heart defect. He developed hydrocephalus, which resulted in a Shunt-implantation. He started having seizures, and was put on Phenobarbital. He suffered a lack of oxygen, which resulted in profound brain injury. After 2,5 months, he was released from hospital, still being tube-fed through the nose, and hardly able to move his limbs, he was 95% deaf and could not see properly. In the next four years he made very slow progress, receiving 1 hour each of physical therapy, occupational therapy and cranio-sacral therapy every week. When he was one year old, he learned to turn from his back onto his side. By 21 months, he had learnt to roll over from both back and tummy, and could log-roll as a means of transport. Just before his 4th birthday, he learnt to move forward by pulling himself along on his belly, a half a metre at a time. Up to about his first birthday, he was completely hypotonic (floppy), but he tended to arch his neck back-wards. By age 4 his truncal tone was still hypotonic, and he had difficulty holding his torso upright.  Over the years, his legs had become very spastic.  Both hips were dislocated, and his legs scissored, both feet turned outwards and downwards. His hands and arms were becoming increasingly spastic.

From when he was 4,5 years old, for the following 4 years, we did a home-based Intensive Treatment Program through the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential (Doman program). In this period he learnt to belly-crawl long distances, get into quad position, creep on all fours with great difficulty up to 3 metres a day, learnt to hear, see and read.  During the last year with IAHP his mobility progress stopped.

After seeing the ABR Facts video, we understood that he was not making any further mobility progress because of the abnormalities of his physical structure. During the last year since we started ABR in May 2004, Gerard has made spectacular progress.
Structural improvements:  His pelvis has opened up (the distance between the pelvic bones has increased from 14,5 cm to 16 cm), his chest has expanded, the inside corner of his shoulder blades have moved down and stabilized, his arms are less spastic, his right testicle descended, his face has broadened, his head has grown significantly (his head circumference  increase was 1,4 cm in the last year, compared to 0,3 cm the year before).
Functional improvements: Since starting ABR Gerard has  learnt to pull himself up into high-kneeling position; he climbed up onto a bed for the first time;  his swallowing is much improved; his head control has improved significantly; he started smacking his lips;  he sat on an office chair for the first time by himself for half an hour and he pulled himself up into a vertical position, holding onto a windowsill.

Grace,
We did an x ray and he had several sinus infections one after another. It was a clue. The surgeon said his adnoids were huge when he removed them. The tonsils were fine and we havnt had any bleeding either. The only problem is that we cant suction his nose at all and not deep in his throat either.
Thanks for your prayers.

Hi Jodie, sorry to hear about Josiah.

Our daughter Rosita once was suspected with enlarged adenoid (adenoid hypertrofi?).  Anyway, recent x-ray showed that it’s already normal, so we still in doubt whether to do surgery or not. Beside, her trombocyte is quite low at the moment.  Adenoid removal is prudent to bleeding, so we have to be really careful with the trombocyte level. Anyway, how did you find out about it?  Is it via x-ray, CT scan, or MRI?

We’ll keep Josiah in our prayer.  I guess we’re on the same shoe.  We once had very bad experience after Rosita surgery.  I guess pasca surgery is something that should never be overlooked. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi all,

Sorry I havnt been in contact but Josiah has been having issues with his sinuses and we found out he had enlarged adnoids. So this last tuesday we had them taken out and it has been a nightmare recovery. His Phlegm has quadrupled and he has a hard enough time controlling it let alone increasing it and adding a sore throat to the ordeal. He doesnt want to swallow or cough. It just makes him cry. so we have to give him Tylenol with codeine. Which makes him sleep. and not want to eat. Anyways I hope this is ovewr soon. Pray for us.

Jodie F.

Dawson’s program has me rotating smells every three days.  Is he HYPOsensitive or HYPERsensitive?

I'll try that. Do you use the same rotten things for many days?

Thanks

Hi Karla. I checked this morning and it seems like most of the smells
in the kit are "good" ones. Chimney and maybe soap are on the edge. But
certainly nothing like what Donna describes.

Donna, how many times do you offer the rotten smell to Dawson?
