For double stand twists, I suggest using Elasta QP power gel...it doesnt flake,
it holds, and it gives your twists shine. No other twist gel has worked for me,
all other make my hair look dull and frizzy, rather than shiny and kinky.

Hi Mpookey,

Im in the process of setting up a website. In the interim we can work
something out. I'll send you a sample jar (FOC-free of charge) but if you dont
mind- you can pay for the Delivery costs (through paypal)- so choose between
UPS, or normal post.

   Cheers

In response to your request for help to hydrate your hair, I strongly
recommend a mixture of Shea Butter and milk fat(sorry i couldnt get
the literal english translation whether its milk fat or butter fat
but its straight from the cow (unprocessed)). If you could get these
in their natural states, this would be great e.g getting the
buttermilk froma dairy. For me in Nigeria, im lucky because the shea
butter tree grows in abundance so access to it in its unprocessed
state is easy peesy, so is milk fat (or is it butter milk).

Anyway, just mix the two together in a jar and just part your hair
into thin sections and run it through from the roots to the end. Its
great for natural, permed and transitioning hair. Olive oil just gets
soaked in my hair and doesnt moisturise it at all, so i only still
use it for its nutrients, but the shea mixture has improved
texture, given sheen & softness, grown my hair and gotten me loads of
compliments from people. I've even started selling a few jars
myself :)-According to the author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad, cant survive
solely on a salary).

Hope the mixture works for you too.

I would suggest that you return to using hair grease then, if that works for
you. Just remember that drinking water contributes more moisture to our hair
than just applying some oil, conditioner, afro sheen, or whatever to our hair
alone. If you drink sufficient amount of water everyday (6-8 glasses) then the
hair grease will simply lock in the moisture, as healthier, H2O-nurtured new
growth begins to come in.

   Best Wishes!

this is an excellent site suggestion, but you need to find the right product for
your hair. If you have been using the same products getting the same effect,
it's time to change.

Right now I do the no-poo (suave conditioner and pantene conditioner) twice a
month and one shampoo (herbal essence shampoo) use twice a month. I'm also
currently using Right On Curl Activator. It leaves my hair super moist, but I
use sparingly because it can get greasy!!!

I've been natural for 5 years now and embracing and loving it!!

I encourage you to branch out with some two strand twist, or twist in front
and afro puff in back or whatever loose style you choose.

I'm not into locks. I think twists would be nice, but what products allow a nice
shiny twist that stays?

If you do twist, I suggest the organic stimulator twist and loc gel. You will
be amazed.

I'm also looking for some legitimate products that visibly hydrate the hair and
make it softer.

Try doing a no-poo once a month and you will definitely see the difference.
Also, I use tons of leave in conditioner, especially when my hair is braided or
before I handle in the morning.

The sky is the limit in doing natural hair. I would suggest you find someone
who would help you with a style or two.

Hi,

Here is yet another suggestion. 1/2 & 1/2 - Glycernine (plant) and
water. I wear twist doing the warm weather and I have found that
spraying my hair daily and then covering with a shower cap before I
take my shower keeps my hair pliable and I get a lot of growth. I
wash every two weeks. I tie my hair up at night. It has been a
magic pill for me. All my life I thought my hair was dry and
brittle by nature, but it was just starved for moisture.

You can find small bottles of glycerine in the drugstore, but health
food stores usually have larger bottles for less.

I am sure there will be someone who can give cons to this
suggestion, but I haven't found anything else that works for me.

Taeesha,
sorry, for just now getting back to you. As someone who has been wearing
braids for years now, maybe I can help.

There are two processes that I've learned of to wash your hair while wearing
braids w/ synthetic hair. Which one you use, depends on what works/is most
comfortable for you.

PROCESS #1 (the one I used to use):
place a stocking cap on your head, ensuring that the synthetic hair is
covered, shampoo hair as 'usual', ensuring that the cap stays on during the
entire process. Once done, use a spray-on, leave-in conditioner along with
whatever moisturizer you usually use.

PROCESS #2 (the one I now use):
You will find many brands of Spray-On Braid Shampoo out there on the market.
I use AFRICAN PRIDE and have not had any issues. The process is
simple....you spray the liquid on your hair, massage it into your scalp,
allow it to penetrate (AP says one minute, I leave it a little longer),
rinse (I do this while in the shower so that the spray from the shower head
will rinse my hair w/out me "agitating" the braids) and repeat (if
necessary).

Once that is done, I wrap a towel around my hair to soak up the excess water
and then spray AFRICAN PRIDE BRAID SHEEN SPRAY w/ Teetree & Peppermint Oil
(it's new and I am so happy as I suffer from extremely dry/itchy scalp, even
when my hair was PACKED with oil). Once that is done, I then use AFRICAN
PRIDE MOISTURIZING STYLING GEL on the actual synthetic hair to help keep it
from drying out/frizzing up.

I also sometimes spray on NEXT IMAGE AVOCADO & SHEA BUTTER GLOSSER to help
keep "the shine".

Again, this is what works for me, not sure if it will work for you, but as
with all things when it comes to natural hair (I'm coming to learn), it's a
matter of trial and error. Let me know if you try one of these and if it
works for you.

Hey, Taeesha!

I hope that you are well!

Your question is a difficult one for me to answer. I don't have the
experience of wearing synthetic braids. Perhaps you can ask the braider for
assistance.

I apologize that I could not help you more!

   Take care!

I can't wiat to hear the answer because my daughter's
hair is the same way. I'm convinced her hair just
eats oil. Her hair should be down her back by now,
but its just so dry as much as it grows it breaks.

Hey, Taeesha!

I hope that you are well!

Your question is a difficult one for me to answer. I don't have the
experience of wearing synthetic braids. Perhaps you can ask the braider for
assistance.

I apologize that I could not help you more!

   Take care!

It still looked great, but I had to wash my hair as my scalp was

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

There is a new method that is a little different called the LOIS
method that types hair by its shape L, O, I or S, but if you have a
combination (Like I do), you put 2 of the letters together, OS, LO, etc.
And, yes, I am all natural and have been for 2 years. I love my hair
and it has really begun to have its own personality. Right now I am
just trying new products that will help me maintan the curl pattern
without adding petrolatum or mineral oil or other harsh additives.
Peace,

Hi!

Thanks for the info! I remember a few years ago that my husband used Fruit of
the Earth. At that time, I wondered if it would help my hair! Wow!

I definitely need products that will hold my very soft and fine hair.
Typically I cut it every 6-8 weeks when I texturized it. Yet, as I want to
become more natural, the last cut was in May, 2005. It is slowly growing out.

   Again, thanks!

Hello!

I am new to the natural coming from years of texturizers. My
hair has not been assessed; I am unsure where to go for that. I
am unaware of natural products. My stylist recommended Mizani
products and I enjoy them. I wish I could offer more
assistance.

When you locate the natrual products, please advise me. I know
someone will assist you!

Take care!
