BirthNetAlbany is the announcement and discussion group for BirthNet, a non-profit organization in New York's Capital District. Our mission is to educate the public about maternity care in order to improve it. Childbirth is a normal, natural and profound event in a woman's life.

BirthNet's goal is to encourage all women and families to learn about their rights and options. Our primary programs include education in the classroom (high school or college classes), community forums or workshops, and media outreach.

This group is for BirthNet supporters including birth professionals, parents, and members of the public interested in helping to improve maternity care. It can be used to announce and plan upcoming events, share relevant news articles, and discuss issues related to birth and maternity care. Membership in the group is set up as "Restricted," meaning that new members must be "approved" by a moderator, only to prevent spam.
