My message didn't make it through yesterday, so I will try again.

-Kyra,
First of all, what were you taught? We maybe saying the same thing. The
info didn't say that you always ovulate twice in a cycle, it said you can
ovulate twice in a cycle. The time that you abstain after ovulation already
accounts for this possibility. Therefore you don't have to worry about
'looking' for another ovulation or more mucus signs. For example, if you do
ovulate twice, the second egg is released shortly after the first (no more
than 24 hrs. if my memory serves me right). If you abstain the full time
after peak, you will avoid both ovulation's. Make sense? I did not want to
alarm anyone.
You are right, you will find that different info will vary from source to
source. But not to worry. Like for instance, Say two woman, using two
different methods, ovulate at the exact time. If one is going by
temperature, after the temperature rose indicating ovulation, the evening of
the third night is safe to resume relations. The other going by mucus
signs, waited to resume relations until the evening of the fourth day after
the peak. (Is that right?) Sounds a little confusing but the two different
methods usually will end up 'being safe' on the same evening. See what I
mean. I think the experts have allowed the right about of time to abstain
in both methods.
And Rhianwen is right, your cycle will vary from month to month. And you
may ovulate on different days of the month. But your body will show you the
signs to up coming fertility. My body was like clock work. Although, I
didn't ovulate the same day every month, usually round the same day, I did
start my period on day 30 of every month.
Laura,
Yes, you can ovulate before your period returns while breastfeeding. That
happened to me, resulting in baby number three. I know it is a pain at
first to chart and take the temperature, but it does help if you want to
space the children further apart. I bought a digital thermometer (that
would beep at me when finished), set my alarm for a time before I needed to
get up in the morning, took my temp and went back to sleep. It took three
minutes of my day. I figured it was worth it. Do you have access to any
charts? If not, is there a friend that could receive an attachment for you?
About the night feedings, I have friends who have continued to feed through
the night to delay ovulation, and friends who try to get their babies to
sleep all night. I personally, tried to get my babies to sleep through the
night, because I was so exhausted. The only thing that seemed to increase
ovulation for me was anytime I supplemented with bottle or food. I finally
caught on by my third and only breastfeed for the first eight months, but as
soon as I supplemented, my period came back. She had been sleeping all
night since she was 6 wks.
I have heard of a Full Quiver. I would be interested in learning more.
I enjoy talking with you all. I hope I am not confusing anyone. If I am,
let me know!
We are moving so if you don't hear from me, it's because I couldn't get to
my email.
Thanks,
Pam
