Is it ok to make soap with rancid oil?   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #17113 of 17761 |
A friend of mine has saved some used olive oil for 2 years.
She said that it smells.

I'm wondering about the quality of soap made with rancid oil.
Would it be a waste?

Other friend said that;
the oil is already spoiled.
If you use the soap, the oil residue will damage skin.
The oil of the soap would be the one that moisturizes skin.

I thought glycerin gives moisturizing effect.

thanks.

If an oil is rancid, then you will have rancid, stinky soap. I don't think the oil would be harmful at all, but I wouldn't want to bathe with rancid soap. Amy...
