Dear Sir/madam,
Hello!! I'm writing to inquire some problems about Kidney
transplantation in UK.
I was a student of University of Liverpool in 1999. During that
Christmas, my kideny was infected unfortunately and developed to
choronic renal failure and I found out that I was born with single
left kidney. SO I was forced to suspend my study there and returned
to Hong Kong. After a yr having Automatic Peritoneal Dialysis(8
hrs/day, 7 cycle, 1.4L dialysis fluid each cycle), my present
physical condition is quite stable. My current medication is calcium
carbonate and vitamins C & B complex only. BP around 90-100/55-60. No
diabet. Creatine(Or Urea? I'm not sure) around 450. Mom, who is 51,
would like to donate her kidney to me. Then several test were taken.
Though Mom's DNA, Blood tissue, Blood type etc are all MATCHED with
mine. The doctors in Hong Kong refused to do the transplant for
me 'cos there are 3 blood vessels linked with Mom's kidney. They said
it's too risky as it'll take much longer time in transplant and they
couldn't guarantee the 3 blood vessels will work property right after
the transplant. My fmaily and I were very disappointed and therefore
now seeking help from hospitals overseas. I would like to find out in
my case, is there any hope to do the transplant in UK? I'm a holder
of British passport. Will this help? Is there any chance for me to do
the transplant in UK? If yes, where and who should I approach to? I'm
be grateful if you can provide any help. Thanks a million!!
With warmest regards,
Belinda Chow
