Dear Friends,
In case you haven't heard yet, the government made a major announcement this
morning. The attached Press Release should explain all. In summary however they
announced:
1. Double the number of people on the organ donation register from 8
million to 16 million by 2010.
2. Develop a National Service Framework (NSF) for patients with kidney
failure to establish national standards and improve services.
3. Increase kidney transplant rate by almost 100% by 2005
4. Increase heart and lung transplants and liver transplants by 10% by 2005
5. Establish a new National consultative body to consider and offer advice
on all transplant issues
