While agreeing that George Best probably caused his own liver disease
I think these people are being somewhat silly.

By their criterion everyone who has ever drank should be refused liver
transplants and everyone who has ever smoked should be refused lung
transplants?

If the criterion is that people shouldn't receive medical help for self
inflicted conditions then you might as well close down most of the
Worlds hospitals.
