So, I am curious-anyone being proactive about the future? Have you started funds for your kids if something happens to you?  Do you know who will finish raising your children if (god forbid) something happens to you? Do you have a will?  Sigh...sometimes I get very wrapped up in the day to day things and then if occurs to me, if I got in a car accident I don't really have a plan in place. Suggestions or examples of what you have done may help me get motivated to do something:)

I don't know if this will help you much but my 21 year old son will be taking care of my 2 kids that are under 18 with the help of my oldest daughter (20) and my mother if she is still around. Even my sons girlfriend of over 1 year is willing to help,

Sorry I can't offer anything to help.

Amanda

I haven't started planning for my 2 1/2 year old yet, but I have an adult cousin with autism.  He is fairly high functioning, he doesn't understand the concept of money, but he can make his own meals and walk to the grocery store for food items on his own.  He showed an afinity for art work very young.  When he started painting beautiful scenery, his parents started selling the paintings to friends and family and putting the money into an account for him with one of the younger aunts listed as trustee.  Now, at age 50, he has a nice bank account and he is selling his work in an art gallery, making hundreds of dollars per painting.

So, my suggestion is to watch for things your child/children might be able to make a living with, and then find a suitable trustee to watch over that money if something should happen to you.

Hope that helps a little,
Rossetta
