It's my understanding that the intention of Calhoun Intermediate School District is to eventually faze out the existence of summer school. We are already seeing it this year with a decrease to 3 days a week.

I think we all need to think about calling the DKDC principal and/or the CISD administration to tell them why summer school is important to our kids with autism.

It doesn't really make sense that they would work so hard with them over the year only to let them atrophy over the summer.

My daughter really needs summer school and the support of a school environment to give her stability and help her understand the world. I hope we can join together to advocate.

Don't ever hesitate to call administration!
