Hi- My name is Deb Gruber. I've attached the abstract from my research that I presented at ABA last year. I have not yet submitted for publication (there's a procrastination presentation that i think i need to go to!). Michael has my information on this as well. Anyway, if you need anything else,

Subject: [B-fit] ABA exercise studies?
Hi everyone, I am preparing a presentation on correspondence training to increase exercise behavior for the ABA convention in Atlanta (hope to see you all there!). I've been reading through sports psychology and behavior analysis research to compile a very brief review of past research that focuses on exercise as the primary behavior targeted for change. Sports psych literature is plentiful, but everything in ABA seems to use exercise as antecedent, part of a treatment package, or contingent punishment. I haven't found any studies yet that intervene to directly change exercise behavior. But, I certainly don't want to make a sweeping statement that ABA hasn't targeted exercise as the dependent variable if it's not true! (Bobby, did you tell me about a Karate study you did?) My question: Do you have any knowledge of published behavior analysis studies that target exercise as the dependent variable? I'd appreciate any leads or suggestions. Thanks!
