My computer is hacked and keep in mind I'm dyslexic and doing the best I can with what I have to work with.

#1 Warren Buffett buying Burlington RR (BNI), he owns it, total control, without selling other stock first to get his financial ducks in a row when HE KNEW the price of his other RR stock holdings which he was/would sell to raise money would devalue after his purchase of BNI was not what a guru and investment brain like Buffett would do unless he was in a hurry. Why was he in a hurry to clean up business with BNI?

#2 Lou Dobbs leaves CNN to the shock and awe of the useless eaters, after agreeing to terminate his contract early after years and years at CNN and one of their stars. Why the big rush?

#3 Obama is going to purge backwards for 5 years all Bush appointee's who slipped out of political positions into civil service, which is normal for any administration leaving office. Why do it now, what's the rush? Why the purge? Will all have to conform to what Glenn Beck has warned us about?

One thing that bothers me is the United States Air Force 1 the presidents plane, seems to be on the runway and in the air constantly, the trips and cost is mind boggling. It cost over a million dollars, we don't know how much over, to fly in for a few hours to plead Chicago's cause for the Olympics...he is flitting here and there like a butterfly in July setting records for travel.

The government's lips are moving on economic numbers of every kind and we know the other shoe is going to drop in real estate, commercially as well as home mortgages resetting soon, not good. The prez want to bulldoze empty houses and make them into plots, garden plots, parks, etc. If all the houses we full of people before the bubble burst where are they now? Wouldn't the demand for homes be the same now as then? So why not resell them and move on rather than bulldoze them? Unless...

H1N1 flu information is varied at best and its unclear to me at least what is really going on, first their reporting cases then their not, then they are as we hear the number of deaths, go figure. The news from around the world is also questionable with some governments taking pretty drastic measures akin to martial law and worse, you'll have to do a search to try and figure out what appears to be vast response inconsistencies around the world.

Cap and Trade passed the House with horrific provisions. Sounds like it's time to sell the old homestead based on the information I just heard on the radio as you may not be able to if you have to meet the 'green' conditions. I did a quick search on Ecuador last night and its cheap and from where I sit in comfort and looks like a good place to get a visa and beach front property. Cap and Trade is now the Clean Energy and Powers Act...? Just a little name change. Obama is going to sign the (world cap and trade) Copenhagen Treaty, maybe that's why the duck and cover above. Please, please call your elected Senate critters and protest! Research and call, then tell all 1,000 of your closet friends to pick up the phone, email, and send pink postcards protesting.

Notice how fast health care and cap and trade has picked up and gone through when WHAT'S THE RUSH? The vote count hasn't changed so that's not a problem, what is? Is the world turning faster?

Will the last person leaving the US please turn out the lights?

Till the morrow.

Ecuador

Christian Groups To Protest For The Right To Gay Bash

The Christian Anti-Defamation Commission plans to protest the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, which President Obama signed into law last month, by preaching outside of the Justice Department. Pastor Paul Blair is apparently concerned that the law will infringe on Christians' constitutional rights to act out their bigotry.

WATCH: Carrie Prejean Attempts To Storm Off 'Larry King'

Carrie Prejean continued her media blitz last night with an appearance on "Larry King Live" to discuss her new book, her sex tape, and the now-settled lawsuit against the Miss California Pageant. Though King is famous for his generally softball interviews, he wasn't quite soft enough for Prejean who attempted (and failed!) to throw a fit and storm off the set.

Breaking: Va. teen suffers rare illness after swine flu shot --Boy diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome 12 Nov 2009 A 14-year-old Virginia boy is weak and struggling to walk after coming down with a reported case of Guillain-Barre syndrome within hours after receiving the H1N1 vaccine for swine flu. Jordan McFarland, a high school athlete from Alexandria, Va., left Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children Tuesday night in a wheelchair nearly a week after developing severe headaches, muscle spasms and weakness in his legs following a swine flu shot. He will likely need the assistance of a walker for four to six weeks, plus extensive physical therapy.

Breaking: Conflicting reports about who shot Hasan at Fort Hood 12 Nov 2009 Did Police Sgt. Kimberly Munley shoot Maj. Nidal Hasan last week at Fort Hood? Army officials have credited the wounded 34-year-old officer from Killeen, Texas, with ending the rampage that left 13 dead and dozens injured. But the officer who responded with her, Senior Sgt. Mark Todd, tells The New York Times that he shot Hasan after the gunman seriously wounded Munley. An eyewitness has backed Todd's version of events.

U.S. Moves to Seize 4 Mosques and Skyscraper 'Tied to Iran' --The assets include bank accounts; Islamic centers consisting of schools and mosques in New York City, Maryland, California and Houston; more than 100 acres in Virginia; and a 36-story glass office tower in New York. 12 Nov 2009 Federal prosecutors took steps Thursday to seize four U.S. mosques and a Fifth Avenue skyscraper owned by a nonprofit Muslim organization long suspected of being secretly controlled [?!?] by the Iranian government. In what could prove to be one of the biggest counterterrorism seizures in U.S. history, prosecutors filed a civil complaint in federal court against the Alavi Foundation, seeking the forfeiture of more than $500 million in assets. [Maybe other nations will return the favor and start seizing US assets, since the US isa key backer and perpetuator of international terrorism.]

KBR burned smallpox inoculations in Iraq, Afghan burn pits --Troops sue KBR over toxic waste 11 Nov 2009 Dozens of US military personnel have filed 34 lawsuits against US defense contractor KBR for allegedly incinerating toxic waste and releasing it into the atmosphere in Iraq and Afghanistan. Susan Burke, one of the lawyers bringing the suits, said they have been filed over the past year, 18 of them in recent days. One lawsuit filed in federal court in Nashville, Tennessee charged that they "ignored their contractual obligations and burned vast quantities of unsorted waste in enormous open air burn pits with no safety controls. This misconduct began in 2003 and continues unabated [thanks, Obusha!] to date," it alleges. "Every type of waste imaginable was and is burned on these pits, including trucks, tires, lithium battery, Styrofoam, paper, rubber, petroleum-oil-lubricant products, metals, hydraulic fluids, munitions boxes, medical waste, biohazard materials (including human corpses), medical supplies (including those used during smallpox inoculations), paints, solvents, asbestos insulation, items containing pesticides, polyvinyl chloride pipes, animal carcasses, dangerous chemicals and hundreds of thousands of plastic water bottles," the lawsuit claims.

KBR improperly billed for security guards, senator says 11 Nov 2009 KBR, the largest contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan, improperly billed the Pentagon and was paid about $103 million for armed security guard services, a U.S. senator says. In a Nov. 6 letter to Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., who chairs a contracting oversight panel, wrote that the Pentagon has recovered $42 million of the payments. McCaskill said she was concerned the Defense Department "is not moving quickly enough to recover the remaining $61 million" and asked Gates for a status report by Dec. 1.

Iraq probes Blackwater bribes 12 Nov 2009 Iraq has ordered an investigation into whether the US security firm Blackwater paid bribes to officials following the fatal shootings of 17 people in 2007. Interior Minister Jawad al-Bolani told CNN that he had asked the appropriate commanders to look into the matter. The decision came after former top Blackwater executives told the New York Times they had sent $1m to its office in Iraq in a bid to silence criticism [and illegally thwart investigations].

Blair faces Iraq probe next year 13 Nov 2009 Former Prime Minister Tony Blair is to be called to give evidence to the Iraq War inquiry early next year. He will be among senior Labour figures to be publicly grilled just months ahead of an expected general election. Mr Blair and the others may be quizzed again in more detail, but that will not happen until after the election, which must take place by June.

Ministry of Defence civil servants paid 47 million in bonuses --Civil servants at the Ministry of Defence have been paid 47 million in performance bonuses so far this year. 12 Nov 2009 The MoD said the bonuses were paid for "exceptional performance" but the disclosure came as the Government faced increasing pressure over the lack of equipment for troops serving in Afghanistan. There are 85,000 civil servants at the MoD -- one for every two active soldiers, the highest level among the Allied nations -- and about 50,000 will get a performance bonus this year. Troops serving in Afghanistan would be "aghast" at the payments, the Conservatives said last night.

Gates Condemns Leaks on U.S. Afghan Policy and Ft. Hood 13 Nov 2009 Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates unleashed a torrent on Thursday about leaks during the investigation of the Foot Hood shootings and during President Obamas deliberations on sending more American troops to Afghanistan. First, on the presidents meetings on Afghanistan: "I have been appalled by the amount of leaking that has been going on in this process," Mr. Gates told reporters... He added that he thought "a lot of different places are leaking" and that he was "confident that the Department of Defense is one of them." Then he made a threat: "And frankly if I found out with high confidence anybody who was leaking in the Department of Defense, who that was, that would probably be a career ender." [And, the first career we want to see ended is that of Robert Gates.]

US envoy warns against troop surge in Afghanistan --Memos from Eikenberry state extra troops 'not a good idea' until Karzai government tackles corruption, according to reports 12 Nov 2009 The US ambassador in Kabul has warned against plans to send tens of thousands more troops to Afghanistan, until President Hamid Karzai's government demonstrates that it is willing to tackle the corruption. Karl Eikenberry sent two classified cables to Washington in the past week expressing his concern over proposals to deploy as many as 40,000 extra troops while the Karzai government remains dogged by accusations of incompetence and corruption, according to reports from Washington. The existence of the memos was revealed as Barack Obama held a war council at the White House to discuss the final four options for deployment of extra US troops in an effort to stave off defeat at the hands of the Taliban.

McDonald's advertises for staff to work at Guantnamo Bay 12 Nov 2009 McDonald's is advertising for staff to work at Guantnamo Bay, in what might be the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to see out the recession in warmer climes. The burger chain is looking to hire an assistant manager for its outlet at the military base on Cuba where the US holds foreign terrorist suspects. The sole McDonald's branch on the island has featured in news reports about the controversial prison, with interrogators allegedly buying Big Macs and fries in an attempt to make captives more amenable.

Abul Hassan Jafari, director of public relations at the consulate, was attacked by assailants on Thursday as he was on his way to work, police said. He died of severe injuries on the way to hospital. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. [Yeah, but we all know who it is.]

Rabbi Yitzhak Shapiro, who heads the Od Yosef Chai Yeshiva religious school in the occupied West Bank, says Jews are allowed to murder even non-Jewish babies and children if they pose a threat to Israel, Haaretz reported. Shapiro said Jews are allowed to kill 'those who, by speech, weaken our sovereignty'.

Lack of health care killed 2,266 US veterans last year: study 11 Nov 2009 The number of US veterans who died in 2008 because they lacked health insurance was 14 times higher than the US military death toll in Afghanistan that year, according to a new study. The analysis produced by two Harvard medical researchers estimates that 2,266 US military veterans under the age of 65 died in 2008 because they lacked health coverage and had reduced access to medical care.

The arrests stemmed from an antiterrorism investigation in Milan, and antiterrorist units from Algeria, Austria, Britain, France, Spain and Switzerland cooperated in the inquiry.

This year's emergency-response test is called Terrex '09 and is scheduled for Nov. 18 and 20 in Lincoln, Scottsbluff and Grand Island. The Nebraska Emergency Management Agency says Terrex '09 will check the state's response to terrorists' use of hazardous materials.

White House Sides With C.I.A. in Turf Battle 13 Nov 2009 After a months-long turf battle between Americas top spies, the White House has sided with the Central Intelligence Agency in the dispute over who has the power to appoint the top spy in each country overseas, according to intelligence officials. The decision is a blow to Dennis C. Blair, the director of national intelligence, who had used the issue as a litmus test of the power of his office, created in 2004 to enhance cooperation among intelligence agencies and put an end to persistent squabbling among American spies.

Government Will Pay $3 Million in Coffee Table Spying Suit 10 Nov 2009 The U.S. has agreed to pay $3 million to a former government worker who accused officials with the CIA and State Department of spying on him with a bugged coffee table. Rather than comply with a court order to provide lawyers in the case with what the U.S. government says is classified information, the government has agreed to settle to end the 15-year-old suit. A close review of the case suggests that the Justice Department also decided to pay off the plaintiff in order to quash the series of damaging legal rulings issued by the influential judge overseeing the case that would have forced them to disclose the classified information.

State to 'spy' on every phone call, email and web search --Every phone call, text message, email and website visit made by private citizens is to be stored for a year and will be available for monitoring by government bodies. 10 Nov 2009 All telecoms companies and internet service providers will be required by law to keep a record of every customers personal communications, showing who they have contacted, when and where, as well as the websites they have visited. Despite widespread opposition to the increasing amount of surveillance in Britain, 653 public bodies will be given access to the information, including police, local councils, the Financial Services Authority, the ambulance service, fire authorities and even prison governors. They will not require the permission of a judge or a magistrate to obtain the information, but simply the authorisation of a senior police officer or the equivalent of a deputy head of department at a local authority.

Obama orders base killings probe 12 Nov 2009 US President Barack Obama has ordered a review of the way intelligence agencies handled information over an army major suspected of killing 13 people. The measure comes after US intelligence authorities revealed they knew Maj Nidal Malik Hasan had been in contact with a cleric sympathetic to al-Qaeda [al-CIAduh].

Hasan charged with premeditated murder, Army official says 12 Nov 2009 Maj. Nidal M. Hasan, the Army psychiatrist accused of opening fire on soldiers at Fort Hood last week, has been charged with premeditated murder in the deaths of 12 soldiers and a civilian and could face other charges, an Army official said Thursday. Christopher Grey, a spokesman for the Army's Criminal Investigation Division and for the joint task force investigating the crime, said Hasan "has been charged with 13 specifications of premeditated murder under Article 118 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice." He told a news conference that "additional charges may be preferred in the future."

Major Hasan: Soldier of Allah; Many Ties to Jihad Web Sites --Officials Say Accused Fort Hood Shooter Used Multiple Hotmail, AOL Accounts for Overseas Contacts 12 Nov 2009 United States Army Major Nidal Hasan proclaimed himself a "soldier of Allah" on private business cards he obtained over the Internet and kept in a box at his apartment near Fort Hood, Texas. The cards make no mention of his military affiliation, but underneath his name he listed himself as SoA (SWT). SoA is commonly used on jihadist Web sites as the acronym for Soldier of Allah, according to investigators and experts who have studied such sites. SWT is commonly used by Muslims as an acronym for Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, Glory to God.

Hasan did not formally ask to leave military, Army official says 11 Nov 2009 The Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 people last week at Fort Hood, Tex., did not formally seek to leave the military as a conscientious objector or for any other reason, an Army official said. Any formal request by Maj. Nidal M. Hasan to separate early would have been submitted to the Department of the Army, according to the official, who saw Hasan's file before it was recently sealed by Army investigators. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case publicly.

Walter Reed Officials Asked: Was Hasan Psychotic? 11 Nov 2009 Starting in the spring of 2008, key officials from Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences held a series of meetings and conversations, in part about Maj. Nidal Hasan, the man accused of killing 13 people and wounding dozens of others last week during a shooting spree at Fort Hood. One of the questions they pondered: Was Hasan psychotic?

Lawyers say a fair trial for Hasan will be impossible 11 Nov 2009 Lawyers for US Army psychiatrist Major Nidal Malik Hasan, who is alleged to have shot 13 people dead at Fort Hood, Texas, say he will not get a fair trial on the base. Army officials have been overseeing the care of Major Hasan, after he was shot by a civilian police officer following his alleged shooting rampage at the Fort Hood installation. Hasan's lawyer, retired Colonel John Galligan, has said his client's condition in hospital is stable and he is aware charges will be laid.

H1N1 has killed 3,900 Americans: CDC 12 Nov 2009 H1N1 swine flu killed an estimated 3,900 Americans from April to October, including more than 500 children, U.S. health officials said on Thursday. Better data than was previously available shows the flu pandemic has infected an estimated 22 million Americans and put 98,000 in the hospital, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

Glaxo sees recurring pandemic flu business 12 Nov 2009 Sales of flu treatments due to the H1N1 swine flu pandemic may be sustainable beyond the current winter season, as governments around the world overhaul their long-term strategy on stockpiles. GlaxoSmithKline Plc Chief Executive Andrew Witty said on Thursday that pandemic stockpiling would be a recurrent business [!], rather than a simple one-off, with some 60 countries now running strategic reserves of both vaccines and antivirals.

Trucks With H1N1 Vaccine Will Be Escorted By Police --Truck Carrying Flu Vaccine Supply Is Stolen 07 Nov 2009 (Chicago) Someone in Milwaukee stole a refrigerated truck that was hauling 930 doses of the swine flu vaccine. The doses were being returned [H1N1 vaccine is unwanted, despite mainstream media assertions to the contrary] to Milwaukee's main storage facility on Thursday evening after a public vaccination clinic when one or more people drove away in the truck, which had been left idling and unattended only for moments, the authorities said. As prosecutors considered charges against a man suspected in the theft, there was other fallout: the department will no longer employ the transport company involved, said Bevan K. Baker, the city health commissioner, and trucks bearing H1N1 doses will now be escorted by a police squad car.

Ex-NYC top cop allowed out of jail for holidays 11 Nov 2009 Bernard Kerik, the former New York City police commissioner and one-time [Bush] candidate for Homeland Security chief, was freed from jail Tuesday for the holidays to await sentencing on federal crimes. Kerik, who pleaded guilty last week to eight felonies, was released on $1.5 million bond by federal Judge Stephen Robinson after the former top cop spent three weeks in jail.

Holy hypocrisy, Batman! RNC insurance plan covers abortion 12 Nov 2009 The Republican National Committees health insurance plan covers elective abortion - a procedure the partys own platform calls "a fundamental assault on innocent human life." Federal Election Commission Records show the RNC purchases its insurance from Cigna. Two sales agents for the company said that the RNCs policy covers elective abortion.

Advocacy Groups Claim Victory After Dobbs Leaves --Dobbs Released From Contract Early, Considering Number of Options 12 Nov 2009 CNN moved swiftly to replace Lou Dobbs in its nightly lineup with John King, who said Thursday that all views would be welcome on his politically-oriented talk show when it debuts early next year. Dobbs' abrupt exit prompted a victory lap by advocacy groups that had sought his ouster for outspokenness... But CNN President Jon Klein said their pressure had nothing to do with the decision.

This arsenal joins the old weapons in their possession. The Taliban commanders in Nuristan say that they have enough men, and they will send their weapons surplus to other places." All these regions are completely free of Americans. The most recent defeat they suffered was at Ormar. East Nuristan has become free of U.S. forces." Reporter: "The government signs in Kamdesh have been replaced by signs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, and the Taliban flag has been hoisted on top of the government buildings, and the army and police posts. The U.S. forces have pinned their withdrawal on the onset of winter, which necessitated a new deployment in the region."

Bush officials lead Iraq business push 09 Nov 2009 Senior Bush administration figures including Zalmay Khalilzad, former US ambassador to Baghdad, and Jay Garner, the retired general who led reconstruction efforts immediately after the war, are leading a new business push into Iraq. The two one-time senior officials are among a raft of former US soldiers and diplomats either leveraging their war experience helping foreign companies to enter the Iraqi market or starting businesses there themselves.

Blackwater Authorized $1M In Bribes to Iraqi Officials After Shootings --Blackwater's buying off government officials is illegal under US law 11 Nov 2009 Top executives at Blackwater Worldwide authorized secret payments of about $1 million to Iraqi officials that were intended to silence their criticism and buy their support after a September 2007 episode in which Blackwater security guards mercenaries fatally shot 17 Iraqi civilians in Baghdad, according to former company officials. Blackwater approved the cash payments in December 2007, the officials said, as protests over the deadly shootings in Nisour Square stoked long-simmering anger inside Iraq about reckless practices by the security companys employees. Four former Blackwater executives said in interviews that Gary Jackson, who was then the companys president, had approved the bribes, and the money was sent from Amman, Jordan, where Blackwater maintains an operations [and torture] hub, to a top manager in Iraq. Taliban Militants Seize Weapons and Ammunitions in Military Posts Evacuated By U.S. Forces in East Afghanistan --Al-Jazeera TV report on the Taliban in eastern Afghanistan, which aired November 9, 2009. 10 Nov 2009 Large Quantities of American-Made Weapons and Ammunition Fall into Taliban Hands --Reporter: "The most important spoils of war, as far as the Taliban militants are concerned, may be the large quantities of American-made weapons and ammunition that fell into their hands, enabling them to continue their operations against the Afghan and foreign forces. This arsenal joins the old weapons in their possession. The Taliban commanders in Nuristan say that they have enough men, and they will send their weapons surplus to other places." Taliban Leader: "We Have Defeated The U.S. Forces…"; Government Signs in Kamdesh Have Been Replaced By Signs of The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan --Muhammad Othman, a Taliban leader in Kamdesh: "We have defeated the U.S. forces, with the help of God. All these regions are completely free of Americans.

TV footage shows Afghan insurgents with US ammo 10 Nov 2009 Television footage broadcast Tuesday showed 'insurgents' handling what appears to be U.S. ammunition in a remote area of eastern Afghanistan that American forces left last month following a deadly firefight that killed eight troops. The U.S. military said the forces that left the area said they removed and accounted for their equipment. Al-Jazeera broadcast video showing insurgents handling weapons, including anti-personnel mines with U.S. markings on them.

'Highlighting the neo-colonial nature of this operation, two former top American officials under the Bush administration are now facilitating corporate deals in Iraq.' The plunder of Iraq's oil (WSWS) 11 Nov 2009 The awarding of development rights over the huge West Qurna oilfield in southern Iraq to Exxon-Mobil and Royal Dutch Shell last Thursday once again underscores the criminal character of the continuing US-led occupation. As the direct result of the Iraq war, major American and other transnational energy conglomerates are now gaining control over some the largest oilfields in the world.

US firm Blackwater in Iraq bribery scandal: report 10 Nov 2009 Executives at US security firm Blackwater approved secret payments of about one million dollars to Iraqi officials to "silence their criticism" after company guards killed 17 civilians in Baghdad in 2007, the New York Times has said. Citing interviews with four unnamed former Blackwater executives, the Times said the company's president at the time, Gary Jackson, approved the bribes.

U.S. to Pick Courts for Guantanamo Inmates by Nov. 16 08 Nov 2009 The U.S. will decide by Nov. 16 whether to try Guantanamo detainees prisoners in military or civilian courts, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said. While President Barack Obama’s administration remains committed to closing the prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, doing so by Obama’s Jan. 22 deadline will be "difficult," Holder told reporters today in Doha, Qatar.

Yoo Withdrew: Amidst Growing Call for Criminal Investigation, Torture Memos Author John Yoo Withdraws from Federalist Society Panel Posted by Alliance for Justice 09 Nov 2009 Amidst a growing call for a criminal investigation of the DOJ lawyers who authorized torture, John Yoo, author of the most infamous of the "torture memos" withdrew as a speaker at the conservative Federalist Society Convention where Alliance for Justice and human rights supporters are scheduled to take action.

3 ND soldiers suing contractors --Similar lawsuits against the contractors have been filed in 33 other states. 10 Nov 2009 Three North Dakota men who were stationed with the military in Iraq are suing military contractors Halliburton Co. and KBR, Inc., alleging the companies exposed them to toxic fumes and ash from burn pits used for waste. The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Fargo by Patrick Cassidy of Fargo, William Dutton of Bismarck and Christopher Kozel of the Minot Air Force Base. The lawsuit claims the contractors burned everything from human remains to dangerous chemicals and medical waste in the open-air pits.

Lockerbie: Human rights lawyer states Megrahi was framed By Steve James 11 Nov 2009 Leading British human rights lawyer Gareth Peirce has stated that, in her opinion Abdel Baset Ali al-Megrahi, the only man accused and convicted of the 1988 bombing of PanAm flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, was framed. ...[F]ollowing the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1991, Iran and Syria both assisted the US invasion of Iraq. It was at this time that the focus of the Lockerbie investigation was shifted. Vincent Cannistraro, the architect of the Reagan administration’ s CIA campaign of destabilisation against the Libyan government of Colonel Muammar Gadhaffi, was brought out of retirement to head the new line of investigation.

The Framing of al-Megrahi By Gareth Peirce 24 Sep 2009 It is, of course, now all about oil. Only a simpleton could believe that Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi, convicted of responsibility for the Lockerbie bombing, was not recently returned to his home in Libya because it suited Britain... Extraordinarily, however, distinct from the Dumfries and Galloway police, scores of men, some wearing no insignia, some the insignia of the FBI and Pan Am (it was noted at the time that many of these men were clearly not Pan Am staff), invaded the area. Lockerbie residents reported seeing unmarked helicopters hovering overhead, carrying men with rifles whose telescopic sights were pointing directly at them.

Obama exploits Fort Hood massacre to promote US wars By Bill Van Auken 11 Nov 2009 President Barack Obama used his speech at Tuesday’s service for the 13 men and women killed last week at Fort Hood, Texas to promote the two ongoing US wars and his own plan to escalate the intervention in Afghanistan. The president delivered his remarks as his administration is finalizing plans to send tens of thousands more US troops to Afghanistan.

Military not told about Ft. Hood suspect's e-mails 11 Nov 2009 Two high-profile anti-terrorism task forces did not inform the Defense Department about contacts between a radical Islamic cleric and the Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 people in last week's rampage at Ft. Hood, a senior Defense official said Tuesday. The FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Forces investigated e-mails that Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan sent over the last year to Anwar al Awlaki, an imam in Yemen who espouses a radical Islamist ideology and who has ties to militants. However, officials said, task force members concluded that the communications posed no threat and had been undertaken as part of Hasan's research on Muslims, the military and post-traumatic stress disorders.

Senior Official: More Hasan Ties to People Under Investigation by FBI --Alleged Shooter Had 'Unexplained Connections' to Others Besides Jihadist Cleric Awlaki 10 Nov 2009 A senior government official tells ABC News that investigators have found that alleged Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan had "more unexplained connections to people being tracked by the FBI" than just radical cleric Anwar al Awlaki. The official declined to name the individuals but Congressional sources said their names and countries of origin were likely to emerge soon. Questions already surround Major Hasan's contact with Awlaki, a radical cleric based in Yemen whom authorities consider a recruiter for al Qaeda [al-CIAduh].

FBI Agents Search Trash At Mosque Attended by Hasan --Agents Seen Pulling Material from Dumpster Outside Killeen Mosque 10 Nov 2009 FBI agents appeared to be carrying out a search warrant today at the Killeen, Texas mosque attended by Major Nidal Malik Hasan, the Islamic Community Center of Greater Killeen. Local police were called to cordon off the area and told ABC News they were acting on instructions from the FBI. Moments later, four agents, wearing blue gloves, began to search through a trash bin outside the mosque.

Fort Hood suspect to be tried in military court 10 Nov 2009 The army psychiatrist suspected in the killing of 13 people in a shooting at the Fort Hood Army post will be charged in a military court, U.S. government officials said on Monday. The official said there is no indication that the accused gunman, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, had been planning an attack.

FBI, military checked Hasan, saw no terror threat, officials say 10 Nov 2009 The FBI and the military investigated contacts between an Army psychiatrist accused of last week's deadly shooting rampage at Fort Hood and a Yemen-based militant over the past year but concluded he didn't pose a terrorist threat, senior law enforcement and military officials said Monday.

Fort Hood Gunman Gave Signals Before His [Alleged] Rampage 09 Nov 2009 Major Hasan’s behavior in the months and weeks leading up to the shooting bespeaks a troubled man full of contradictions. He lived frugally in a run-down apartment, yet made a good salary and spent more than $1,100 on the pistol the authorities said he used in the shootings.

US Senate to probe whether base massacre was terrorism 10 Nov 2009 A Senate committee on homeland security will investigate the mass shootings at Fort Hood, Texas, to determine whether Major Nidal Malik Hasan's deadly shooting rampage was an act of terrorism. The chairman of the Senate committee on homeland security, Joseph Lieberman [I-Israel], told Fox News Sunday there had been ''strong warning signs'' that Major Hasan was an ''Islamist extremist''.

Ft. Hood: Official story full of holes By Gregory Patin 10 Nov 2009 The more information there is, the more inconsistencies that can be found. That does not make any topic a conspiracy theory, it just makes it what it is...questionable. A good example is what allegedly happened at Ft. Hood last week... A retired MP, Michael Martinez also said: "No way! That would be impossible. Even if he had two semi-auto pistols [according to reports he used a 9mm and a .357 revolver to gun down over 40 people] he would still have had to stop to reload and someone would have jumped his ass. Most people on base aren't carrying [weapons], but MPs are and they would have been there in a heartbeat." (CLG item in article)

Fort Hood Shooting Oddities.... By vii 10 Nov 2009 Folks, there are problems with the delivered Fort Hood Massacre scenario. You will not hear about them in the controlled press. You will hear about them in the alternative, internet media. Which is why the globalist cabal is seeking to censor it. All under the guise of "fighting hate", of course.... (CLG item in telegraph.co. uk blog)

CLG Exclusive: Fort Hood: 'This story stinks to high heaven.' --SFC, who spent ten years at Fort Hood, comments on Ft. Hood events 09 Nov 2009 I spent 10 years at Ft Hood. There is no way this 'official' story is legitimate. No way would a room full of combat vets allow this one shooter to get off over 100 rounds! And, it is not normal for the outside security guards to be there. They are at the MP station, and at the main gates. This means the room full of soldiers processing must have been pinned down; multiple shooters is the only plausible scenario. This sounds like MAJ Hasan has been used, and perhaps is a patsy. --SFC Donald Buswell (Retired)

Subpoenas We Can Believe In: Justice Dept. Asked For News Site's Visitor Lists 10 Nov 2009 In a case that raises questions about online journalism and privacy rights, the U.S. Department of Justice sent a formal request to an independent news site ordering it to provide details of all reader visits on a certain day. The grand jury subpoena also required the Philadelphia- based Indymedia.us Web site "not to disclose the existence of this request" unless authorized by the Justice Department, a gag order that presents an unusual quandary for any news organization. The subpoena from U.S. Attorney Tim Morrison in Indianapolis demanded "all IP traffic to and from www.indymedia. us" on June 25, 2008.

Flu suspect booted off plane: Woman says concerns over flu forced her off flight 11 Nov 2009 A woman says she was booted from a flight from Tampa to Hawaii because the flight crew aboard the aircraft suspected she had the flu. Mitra Mostoufi, 50, says she was humiliated when she was taken off the United Airlines flight on Monday morning. She says she doesn't "need to be treated like a disease." Mostoufi says she doesn't have the flu. She says medication for restless leg syndrome made her feel nauseous, so she asked for an air sickness bag. After she made the request, a United Airlines employee told her to leave the aircraft.

Mysterious flu in Ukraine continues to intensify --Nearly three quarters of the Ukrainian population have flu-like symptoms of the mysterious virus 10 Nov 2009 Digital Journal reported at the end of October that more than 40,000 Ukrainians contracted a serious virus but now more than three quarters (478,456) of Ukrainians have contracted the flu-like symptoms, according to Radio Netherlands. .. The mysterious flu strain has caused a variety of theories such as biological warfare. Jose Mosse, who is a former microbiologist for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, called into a radio talk show warning about a biological weapon that would occur in Ukraine by Baxter International. [See: Baxter working on vaccine to stop swine flu, though admitted sending live pandemic flu viruses to subcontractor 26 Apr 2009.]

Glaxo wins OK to sell H1N1 vaccine in U.S. 11 Nov 2009 London-based GlaxoSmithKline won U.S. approval to sell its vaccine to fight H1N1 influenza, also known as swine flu, after an eight-week delay. The Food and Drug Administration cleared the vaccine as a strain change to Glaxo's FluLaval seasonal flu vaccine, the drug maker said Tuesday in an e-mailed statement. The U.S. Health and Human Services Department has ordered 7.6 million doses of the swine flu vaccine as part of about 250 million doses secured from all manufacturers, the company said.

I'm doing 'God's work'. Meet Mr Goldman Sachs --The Sunday Times gains unprecedented access to the world's most powerful, and most secretive, investment bank 08 Nov 2009 Goldman Sachs, this pillar of the free market, breeder of super-citizens, object of envy and awe will go on raking it in, getting richer than God? An impish grin spreads across Blankfein’s face. Call him a fat cat who mocks the public. Call him wicked. Call him what you will. He is, he says, just a banker "doing God’s work"

McChrystal's Request; Long-Term [Blackwater/ KBR] Stay Planned 09 Nov 2009 Tonight, after months of conferences with top advisors, President Obama has settled on a new strategy for Afghanistan. CBS News reports that the president will send a lot more troops and plans to keep a large force there, long term. ...Informed sources tell CBS News he intends to give Gen. Hasan Computer Reveals No Terror Ties 09 Nov 2009 A preliminary review of the computer of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the accused shooter in Thursday's rampage at Fort Hood in which 13 people were killed, has revealed no evidence of any connection to terror groups or conspirators, according to law enforcement officials. CBS News reports that an examination of the computer has revealed Hasan visited Web sites promoting radical Islamic views, but investigators have not found any e-mail communications with outside facilitators or known terrorists.

Soldier Found With 100 Pounds of C-4 Released From Jail --The ATF, FBI and Montgomery County Bomb Squad investigated the case, trying to determine whether the explosives came from Fort Campbell. 05 Nov 2009 An Army Special Forces soldier who admitted to police that he was stockpiling military-grade explosives outside his home near Fort Campbell was released from jail into the custody of his wife. U.S. Magistrate Judge Cliff Knowles gave the order releasing 25-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Timothy Ryan Richards during a detention hearing Thursday in federal court in Nashville. He was charged with possessing two unregistered automatic weapons but he has not yet entered a plea.

The Obama Zone
By Ernest Stewart

"And who's that standing by the signpost up ahead? Why it's... Rod Serling! Uh oh!"
Uncle Ernie's Hollywood Daze ~~~ On The Road To Los Angeles

"The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from all the oligarchies of the past, in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just round the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power."
1984 ~~~ George Orwell

"I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care program. I see no reason why the United States of America, the wealthiest country in the history of the world, spending 14 percent of its Gross National Product on health care cannot provide basic health insurance to everybody." ~~~ President B.H. Obama
"I have not said that I was a single payer supporter...." ~~~ President B.H. Obama

As Alice exclaimed after falling down the rabbit hole, "Curiouser and curiouser!" I know what little Alice was feeling after I fell down into the Obama Zone. It's a strange land full of sound bites and rhetoric signifying nothing!

Many see Obama's presidency as one misstep after another but to anyone paying attention it's never been a misstep. Every step has been carefully calculated. Obama's latest step ought to remove any remaining doubt about what Barry is up to but I'm sure his supporters are even now denying reality with carefully chosen rhetoric about how he's sending in more troops to create peace. This latest influx will bring peace and democracy to Afghanistan even if they have to kill everybody to do it! I'll bet those dimwits in Oslo are beginning to have second thoughts about giving their peace prize to a war criminal!

Barry has failed the Truman test and has bowed down to pressure from the Pentagoons and, as rumor has it, is preparing to send 40,000 more of our children into the meat-grinding morass of a money pit that is Afghanistan. You can almost hear the clinks from glasses full of Stolichnaya held high at the Kremlin as they watch us make the very same empire ending mistakes that they, the English, and the Persians made in Afghanistan. Dasvidaniya, tovarich!

Meanwhile the Chinese and Indians are licking their lips anticipating the power vacuum that will be created by our fall and how they can best take advantage of it. Goodbye Taiwan, goodbye Kashmir! While all over Europe and in Tel Aviv politicians are fast learning Mandarin and Hindi! And suddenly doesn't the 12-21-2012 date seem a whole lot less fantastic than it did before? You betcha!

In Other News

Isn't it funny how there is no money for Medicare type healthcare for the masses but there's plenty of money for oppression at home and our many illegal wars throughout the world? Funny thing that, huh? Barry recently signed a bill allotting $724 billion for the Pentagoons and Fatherland..er..Homeland Security for next year, while less than 10% of that would assure Americans have the same chance at seeing a doctor that the rest of the industrial world gets without going bankrupt.

Of course, the measly $130 billion slice of the pie for Afghanistan and Iraq isn't enough according to Field Marshal Mullen, who would beg another $50 billion just to make sure we can kill everyone in Afghanistan ten times over, thus assuring democracy comes to Kabul!

On the home front Frau Napolitano of Homeland Security has $44 billion to keep track of you and yours just as she kept track of all those pesky Mexican Americans when she was governor of Arizona. Money to track your every move in cyber space, on your telephone, your cell phone (Did you know that they can listen in and track your every move even when your cell phone is turned off?). Your every move on Twitter, your every keystroke when you text. Not to mention all those cameras on every street corner in every city, all for your own safety and for no other reason. (If you buy that then you might want to buy this bridge that I own in Brooklyn? It's a real money maker!) All Hail Big Brother... or else!

And Finally

Seems old Barry can't do a thing without my approval, not only my approval but my money as well. Here's his latest ploy and my reply...

Subject: Making history

"Ernest --

This evening, at 11:15 p.m., the House of Representatives voted to pass their health insurance reform bill. Despite countless attempts over nearly a century, no chamber of Congress has ever before passed comprehensive health reform. This is history.

But you and millions of your fellow Organizing for America supporters didn't just witness history tonight -- you helped make it. Each "yes" vote was a brave stand, backed up by countless hours of knocking on doors, outreach in town halls and town squares, millions of signatures, and hundreds of thousands of calls. You stood up. You spoke up. And you were heard.

So this is a night to celebrate -- but not to rest. Those who voted for reform deserve our thanks, and the next phase of this fight has already begun.

The final Senate bill hasn't even been released yet, but the insurance companies are already pressing hard for a filibuster to bury it. OFA has built a massive neighborhood-by-neighborhood operation to bring people's voices to Congress, and tonight we saw the results. But the coming days will put our efforts to the ultimate test. Winning will require each of us to give everything we can, starting right now.

Please donate $5 or whatever you can afford so we can finish this fight.

Tonight's vote brought every American closer to the secure, affordable care we need. But it was also a watershed moment in how change is made.

Even after last year's election, many insider lobbyists and partisan operatives really thought that the old formula of scare tactics, D.C. back-scratching and special-interest money would still be enough to block any idea they didn't like. Now, they're desperate. Because, tonight, you made it crystal clear: the old rules are changing -- and the people will not be ignored.

In the final phases of last year's election, I often reminded folks, "Don't think for a minute that power concedes without a fight," and it's especially true today. But that's okay -- we're not afraid of a fight. And as you continue to prove, when all of us work together, we have what it takes to win.

Please donate to OFA's campaign to win this fight and ensure that real health reform reaches my desk by the end of this year:

Let's keep making history,
President Barack Obama

Yo Barry,

Oh yippee, so we passed the "Health Insurance Company Protection Act of 2009" and you want me to send you money? No, you send me money to pay for this act of treason because we're going to need it lest we be sent to a "Happy Camp" by some insurance company death panel for not buying enough of their product. Who needs food and shelter when you have worthless insurance? Thanks Barry, thanks for selling us out.

Let's examine sections 7203 and 7201 of this outrage.

Section 7203: - misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

Section 7201: - felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.

Minimum cost is about $6,000 a year for a single person and $15,000 a year for a family. If this is your idea of affordable Heath Care then the Republicans were right, we don't need any Health Care changes. All this will do is send 48,000,000 Americans to the Happy Camps and drain what little is left in the treasury into the pockets of the Insurance Goons. This seems to me to be an act of war against the poorest American citizens. Those 48,000,000 Americans didn't have insurance not because they didn't want it but because they couldn't afford it and we both know with this Act the insurance prices are only going to sky rocket making even more Americans without insurance and thanks to your bill criminals!

Ernest

As always, I'll post any reply! Meanwhile, I'm keeping a sharp lookout for any silent, black helicopters in my neighborhood!

Oh And One More Thing

For all of you who have written in over the last four years wanting to see my pet project, i.e., "W The Movie" and couldn't get to it's very limited run in the theatres or film festivals, here's your chance. "W The Movie" is now available on DVD through Amazon.com. If you are so inclined please use the link/portal for the film, which maybe found towards the bottom of this page. That way Amazon will send me a few pennies for each purchase, which may allow the continuation of the magazine as donations have been few and far between in this year of depression and we're running at a loss that we cannot afford to sustain. Makes the perfect gift or Christmas present!

*****

We don't sell our readers new cars, fancy homes or designer clothes. We don't advocate consumerism nor do we offer facile solutions to serious problems. We do, however, bring together every week writers and activists who are not afraid to speak the truth about our country and our world. The articles we print are not for the faint of heart.

As access to accurate information becomes more difficult and free speech and the exchange of ideas becomes more restricted and controlled, small publications and alternative presses disappear. Issues and Alibis may soon join that list.

We aren't asking for much-not thousands of dollars a month, not tens of thousands a year. What we need is simply enough money to cover expenses for the magazine. A few thousand dollars a year. A few hundred dollars a month. We cannot continue to go into debt to publish Issues and Alibis but at the same time we cannot, in good conscience, go quietly about our daily lives, remaining silent in face of the injustices perpetrated by our leaders and our government. So we need your help. We need your spare change. A dollar, five dollars, whatever you can contribute. Every penny makes a difference.

ZetaTalk: Brazil Blackout
written November 11, 2009

Power Failure Blacks Out Much of Brazil, Paraguay [Nov 11] http://online.wsj.com/article/ A massive power failure hit Brazil's two biggest cities, So Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, and large parts of neighboring Paraguay, leaving millions of people in the dark Tuesday night after a hydroelectric plant went offline. The blackout cut off some 17,000 megawatts of electricity, affecting 10 Brazilian states, but power began returning to Rio within a few hours. Brazilian Energy Minister Edson Lobo said authorities weren't sure what caused the outage at the Itaipu dam, which straddles the border between Brazil and Paraguay, but he believed an "atmospheric phenomenon" or "high-intensity storm" was to blame. [and from another] Outage Leaves Millions Without Power in Brazil [Nov 11] http://www.reuters.com/article/ The electricity operator in the state of Minas Gerais said the outage was caused by a problem with the Itaipu dam which lies on the border between Brazil and Paraguay.

The failure of the hydroelectric plant at the Itaipu dam situated on the border of Brazil and Paraguay was of course caused by an electromagnetic storm caused by the near presence of Planet X and the wafting of its charged tail. The Brazilian Energy Minister was honest about the cause, stating it was a failure at the dam caused by an unknown "atmospheric phenomena". Many blackouts are caused by the equipment shutting down to protect it from surge or brownout damage. Often when there is high demand for electricity, brownouts can occur due to lack of power available to serve the demand. This can cause a domino effect, as one substation after another shuts down due to overload, forcing the demand onto a neighboring substation. This was not the case in the Brazil/Paraguay blackout, which stemmed from the dam itself. The blackout was sudden, affecting the whole area serviced by the power station, showing that the outage stemmed from the dam itself.

Several high profile electrical outages have occurred in recent months - the Air France 447 failure of all electrical systems on that plane on June 1, and the explosions at the Sajano-Shushenskoj hydroelectric power station on August 17 caused by an electromagnetic tsunami. Electromagnetic blasts coming from Planet X have been on record since January 21 with the Earth's magnetosphere losing its S Pole or being twisted, often in synch with major earthquakes. What happened at the Itaipu dam was not due to a particularly strong flood of electromagnetic particles, as the monitoring of the Earth's magnetosphere shows. The magnetosphere seemed to be relatively calm. Where there was no overall electromagnetic blast affecting Earth, the confused magnetic turmoil between the Earth and Planet X can cause erratic magnetic flows in almost any direction. At times, Planet X and the Earth line up end-to-end briefly, causing the Earth to lose its S Pole or for the Earth's magnetosphere to twist. At other times, there is merely a drift of magnetic particles from the field of Planet X toward the Earth's field, causing an overload of particles.

Such a drift is erratic, and is attracted to the surface of Earth based on the electromagnetic particles on the surface of the Earth. This is what caused the hapless Air France 447 to shut down. It was the surface magnet, the Atlantic Rift itself, that attracted a surge of electromagnetic particles just as the plane was crossing the rift. What is it about the location of the Itaipu dam that makes it susceptible to attracting such an electromagnetic surge? We have mentioned that the S American continent has a seaway opening up along the Parana River, ripping apart at Buenos Aires. River bottoms and seaway bottoms in particular, are along weak points in a plate, being pulled apart and causing the land to sink. Thus, such points have less of a shield between the electromagnetic core of the Earth and any turmoil surrounding the Earth's magnetosphere. A surge bridged the gap between magnetrons in the field of Planet X and the core of the Earth there, at that weak point in the crust, and the wealth of electromagnetic particles being generated at the dam was another attractant.

The pointed crop circle that appeared in Brazil two weeks prior to the blackout was warning those in this region that their geography would make them vulnerable to such blackouts. The crop circle appeared in Ipuacu, just to the ESE of the Itaipu dam near Foz do Iguacu. The crop circle pointed to the SSW, south of the dam and along the Parana River channel. The crop circle was stating, in pointed language that rises above the language barrier, that the great Atlantic Rift running down along the northern shore of Brazil was not the only place in danger of electromagnetic pulse. Those who would like clarification on the warning that the visitors are giving them should give the Call and engage the visitors directly. We have warned of increasing outages, such as the Earth experienced in 2003 when the massive tail of Planet X wafted the Earth. These times are now upon mankind.

US Army Recruits Immigrants, Rewards Them With Citizenship

13 April 2009

New military recruits
New Army recruits
The U.S. Army is stepping up efforts to recruit more skilled soldiers by offering immigrants a fast track to U.S. citizenship if they enlist.

The move comes as the Pentagon prepares to send several thousand more troops to Afghanistan and with the war in Iraq in its sixth year.

The U.S. Army chief of staff, himself, swore in a group of recruits at a ceremony in New York.  Half of the 32 new Army recruits are immigrants from countries such as Pakistan, India, South Korea and Bangladesh.

General George Casey welcomed the new soldiers, recruited under a new initiative called MAVNI - Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest. It's a pilot program that promotes enlistment as a short-cut to U.S. citizenship. Recruits are required to have at least two years of legal U.S. residency.

Lieutenant Colonel Margaret Stock says the Army is looking for people with language skills or medical expertise. "We're also looking for people who have cultural ability. They understand certain cultures that we are dealing with. We found, in our operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, that having people who were culturally knowledgeable is critical to success on the battlefield," Stock said.

So far, the MAVNI program, which began in February, has enlisted 52 new soldiers, 60 percent of whom are college graduates. The Army wants people who speak one of 35 languages it deems "strategic."

Stephen Chi speaks Cantonese and four other languages. He will be working as a petroleum supply specialist.  He says he enlisted, not for the U.S. passport, but for the camaraderie. "I grew up in Norway, my parents are Chinese, so joining the Army will give me a chance to really belong to somewhere," he said.

Twenty-four-year-old Toniya Mishra, who will start as a water treatment specialist, says the Army approached her after finding her resume on the Internet. While her starting salary is less than she hoped to get with a masters degree, she says there are other perks. "They provide insurance for your family, and you get to travel a lot in different countries, and it's better than doing anything else in a market like this today," she said.

For the recruits, the next stop is basic training, a rigorous nine weeks of physical fitness, discipline and training. And some then will go to Iraq or Afghanistan, where they could face the dangers of combat.

Krishna Melpati - a medical doctor from India - has a concern. "My only fear," Krishna says, "is like, getting through the basic training."

So far, 380 people have applied. The Army says it will accept up to 1,000 before the program expires in December.

Naturalization Information for Military Personnel

Naturalization Information for Military Personnel

If you are a member of the U.S. Armed Forces and are interested in becoming a U.S. citizen, you may be eligible to apply for citizenship under special provisions provided for in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Generally, service in the U.S. Armed Forces means service in one of the following branches:

  • Army,
  • Navy,
  • Marine Corps,
  • Air Force,
  • Coast Guard,
  • Certain Reserve components of the National Guard, and
  • Selected Reserve of the Ready Reserve

Recent changes in the relevant sections of the INA (Sections 328 and 329) make it easier for qualified military personnel to become U.S. citizens if they choose to file a naturalization application.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has created a streamlined process specifically for military personnel serving in active-duty status or have recently been discharged.

This brochure provides you with some basic information about the laws that govern citizenship for military personnel and the process you should follow to begin your journey to citizenship.

Army Effort to Enlist Hispanics Draws Recruits, and Criticism

by:   |

Army Effort to Enlist Hispanics Draws Recruits, and Criticism
    By Lizette Alvarez
    The New York Times

    Thursday 09 February 2006

Denver - As Sgt. First Class Gavino Barron, dressed in a crisp Army uniform, trawls the Wal-Mart here for recruits, past stacks of pillows and towers of detergent, he is zeroing-in on one of the Army's "special missions": to increase the number of Hispanic enlisted soldiers.

He approaches a couple of sheepish looking teenage boys in the automotive aisle and seamlessly slides into Spanish, letting loose his pitch: "Have you ever thought about joining the Army?" "Did you know you can get up to $40,000 in bonuses?" "I'm from Mexico, too. Michoac a1n."

In Denver and other cities where the Hispanic population is growing, recruiting Latinos has become one of the Army's top priorities. From 2001 to 2005, the number of Latino enlistments in the Army rose 26 percent, and in the military as a whole, the increase was 18 percent.

The increase comes at a time when the Army is struggling to recruit new soldiers and when the enlistment of African-Americans, a group particularly disillusioned with the war in Iraq, has dropped off sharply, to 14.5 percent from 22.3 percent over the past four years.

Not all Latinos, though, are in step with the military's recruitment goals. In some cities with large Hispanic populations, the focus on recruitment has polarized Latinos, prompting some to organize against recruiters and to help immigrants learn their rights.

Critics say recruiters, who are under pressure to meet quotas, often use their charm and an arsenal of tactics, including repeated calls to a recruit, lunch at a favorite restaurant and trips to the gym. The Army also parades rigged-out, juiced-up Hummers wherever youths gather as promotional tools.

"We see a lot of confusion among immigrant parents, and recruiters are preying on that confusion," said Jorge Mariscal, a Vietnam veteran who is director of the Chicano/Latino Arts and Humanities Program at the University of California, San Diego, and is active in the counter recruitment movement.

While the military emphasizes that it works to enlist all qualified people, not just Hispanics, military experts say that bringing in more Latinos is overdue. Hispanics have long been underrepresented in the Army and in the military as a whole. While Latinos make up 10.8 percent of the Army's active-duty force, a better rate than the Air Force or Navy, they account for 14 percent of the population as a whole.

Hispanics also make up the fastest-growing pool of military age people in the United States, and they are more likely to complete boot camp and finish their military service, according to a 2004 study on Marine recruitment by CNA, a research group that operates the Center for Naval Analyses and the Institute for Public Research. Recruitment studies show that Hispanics' re-enlistment rates are also the highest among any group of soldiers.

"They are extremely patriotic," said Lt. Col. Jeffrey Brodeur, commanding officer of the Recruitment Battalion covering Colorado, Wyoming, parts of Montana and Nebraska.

That many Latinos in the military are immigrants, or the children of immigrants, typically engenders a sense of gratitude for the United States and its opportunities, something recruiters stress in their pitch.

Poorer and less educated than the average American, some Hispanics view the military as a way to feel accepted. Others enlist for the same reasons that may attract any recruit: the money, the job training, the education benefits and the escape from poverty or small-town life.

Edgar Santana, a skinny 17-year-old senior who recently hovered around the Army recruiting table at Harrison High School in Colorado Springs, said he was attracted by all those reasons, despite the war in Iraq. "I get the freedoms, and I can enjoy them, so I believe I have to pay back that debt," Mr. Santana said.

Tony Mendoza Jr., 18, a senior at North High School in Denver, has already enlisted in the Army and will enter boot camp this summer. For him, the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, were what drove him into boots. "My parents think I'm going to go in the Army and die, but I wanted to do it," Mr. Mendoza said.

Patriotism alone, though, does not account for the rise in Hispanic enlistment. The increase has gone hand in hand with a vast Army marketing campaign that includes Spanish-language advertisements on Univision and Telemundo, the country's two largest Spanish-language networks, and on the radio and in Hispanic publications. The budget for this campaign has increased by at least $55 million in four years.

The Army has also expanded a small pilot project that allows 200 Latinos each year to undergo rigorous English language classes and then retake the Army qualifications tests. Ten cities now offer that option, up from five.

Recruiters have noticeably stepped up their presence in schools and neighborhoods with Hispanic populations. "You see them today where you would never see them three or four years ago," said Rick Jahnkow, program coordinator for the Project on Youth and non-Military Opportunities in San Diego.

In addition, the Army has made better use of bilingual recruiters to reach out to Latino communities. In the Colorado area, the number of bilingual recruiters has increased in the past 18 months to 13 from 4.

Recognizing the importance of family and its weight in the process is crucial in Hispanic families, recruiters say. Since a mother's approval can make or break a deal, recruiters spend considerable time with Latino families. They have dinner, chat often on the telephone and remain patient. They even attend local Latino churches.

Sgt. First Class Luis M. Galicia, a bilingual recruiter based in Colorado Springs, is always quick to say he was born in Mexico and raised, on little money, in California. He and his family picked grapes for extra cash. He says that his experience helps him connect.; "there is a trust issue."

One incentive meant to appeal to this community, President Bush's 2002 executive order that permits legal residents in the military to apply for citizenship within one year, as opposed to three years, has actually done little to entice Latinos. In fact, the number of Army soldiers who are not citizens has declined since 2002 to 2,447 last year from 3,312. The same is true for enlistments.

Simply speeding up the application process for people already in this country legally does not seem to provide enough incentive to counter the risks of joining up in a time of war.

The recruitment campaign has in fact divided the Latino community. Some of the country's high-profile Latino organizations, like the League of United Latin American Citizens, support the military's efforts, viewing it as an important path to socioeconomic advancement.

"The fact that Latinos are underrepresented in the service causes us concern because the service is often a way to the middle class for many immigrants," said Brent Wilkes, national director of the league. "If you don't have a lot of options, would you rather go into the service and get a middle-class career, or stay in the fields all these years?"

But community activists in places like California and Puerto Rico call that logic wrongheaded. "This is not the time to sign up," said Sonia Santiago, a psychologist and a counter recruiter in Puerto Rico who founded Mothers Against the War after her son, a marine, was sent to Iraq in 2003. Dr. Santiago has routinely confronted recruiters outside schools. "Those benefits don't mean anything, if they are buried or sick for the rest of their lives," she said.

Critics also say that Latinos often wind up as cannon fodder on the casualty-prone front lines. African-Americans saw the same thing happen during the 1970's and 1980's, an accusation that still reverberates. Hispanics make up only 4.7 percent of the military's officer corps.

"The fear is that the military is going to try to replace, consciously or unconsciously, African-Americans with Hispanics," said David Segal, a military sociologist at the University of Maryland.

For bilingual recruiters, tapping into the Latino population has its own set of frustrations. Often, Latinos are willing to join the Army, but cannot. During his rounds at the Wal-Mart, Sergeant Barron encountered a number of illegal immigrants; they are immediately disqualified. Other Latinos lack adequate English skills or high school degrees, he said.

In the past year, a Latino counter recruitment movement has arisen in several major cities with the goal of blunting what organizers call overly aggressive and suggestive recruitment in Latino neighborhoods. Some critics say recruiters sometimes gloss over the risks and mislead potential recruits and their parents. Latino parents, especially those who speak little English and know little about the military, are especially susceptible to a recruiter's persistence and charm, critics say.

Fernando Suarez del Solar, whose son was a marine and died in Iraq in 2003, founded Aztec Warrior Project for Peace to help counsel Latinos on the military. He said he often encountered parents who did not understand the intricacies of the process. One set of parents in Southern California, he said, mistakenly signed papers allowing their 17-year-old to join the military on his 18th birthday, believing that the government required military service, something the recruiter did not clarify.

Michael I. Marsh, a lawyer who represents migrant workers in Oxnard, Calif., said he wrote a letter to a local recruitment battalion last year after a 17-year-old's parents signed off on his Army Reserve enlistment at 18. The parents told him they were under the impression that they were signing to authorize a physical exam and blood work. When the youth later tried to nullify the contract, he was told it was too late and that if he tried to pull out, he would be ineligible for school money and federal employment.

After Mr. Marsh sent the letter, the teenager was allowed to withdraw his enlistment, Mr. Marsh said. Military contracts are not binding until a person takes a second oath of enlistment.

"The recruiter does not lie, but he does not tell the whole truth," Mr. Suarez said. "If you don't know the question to ask, you don't get the information. With language and cultural differences, it's complicated."

    S. Douglas Smith, a spokesman for the Army's recruiting command, said that the Army investigated allegations of misconduct and that, while recruiters were expected to encourage people to enlist, they must be honest about risks and benefits.

"Given the fact that we are a nation at war, recruiters have to be up front about the risks," hhttp://www.truthout.org/article/army-effort-enlist-hispanics-draws-recruits-and-criticisme said.

American Adviser to Kurds Stands to Reap Oil Profits

OSLO — Peter W. Galbraith, an influential former American ambassador, is a powerful voice on Iraq who helped shape the views of policy makers like Joseph R. Biden Jr. and John Kerry. In the summer of 2005, he was also an adviser to the Kurdish regional government as Iraq wrote its Constitution — tough and sensitive talks not least because of issues like how Iraq would divide its vast oil wealth.

Now Mr. Galbraith, 58, son of the renowned economist John Kenneth Galbraith, stands to earn perhaps a hundred million or more dollars as a result of his closeness to the Kurds, his relations with a Norwegian oil company and constitutional provisions he helped the Kurds extract.

In the constitutional negotiations, he helped the Kurds ram through provisions that gave their region — rather than the central Baghdad government — sole authority over many of their internal affairs, including clauses that he maintains will give the Kurds virtually complete control over all new oil finds on their territory.

Mr. Galbraith, widely viewed in Washington as a smart and bold foreign policy expert, has always described himself as an unpaid adviser to the Kurds, although he has spoken in general terms about having business interests in Kurdistan, as the north of Iraq is known.

So it came as a shock to many last month when a group of Norwegian investigative journalists at the newspaper Dagens Naeringsliv began publishing documents linking Mr. Galbraith to a specific Norwegian oil company with major contracts in Iraq.

Interviews by The New York Times with more than a dozen current and former government and business officials in Norway, France, Iraq, the United States and elsewhere, along with legal records and other documents, reveal in considerable detail that he received rights to an enormous stake in at least one of Kurdistan’s oil fields in the spring of 2004.

As it turns out, Mr. Galbraith received the rights after he helped negotiate a potentially lucrative contract that allowed the Norwegian oil company DNO to drill for oil in the promising Dohuk region of Kurdistan, the interviews and documents show.

He says his actions were proper because he was at the time a private citizen deeply involved in Kurdish causes, both in business and policy.

When drillers struck oil in a rich new field called Tawke in December 2005, no one but a handful of government and business officials and members of Mr. Galbraith’s inner circle knew that the constitutional provisions he had pushed through only months earlier could enrich him so handsomely.

As the scope of Mr. Galbraith’s financial interests in Kurdistan become clear, they have the potential to inflame some of Iraqis’ deepest fears, including conspiracy theories that the true reason for the American invasion of their country was to take its oil. It may not help that outside Kurdistan, Mr. Galbraith’s influential view that Iraq should be broken up along ethnic lines is considered offensive to many Iraqis’ nationalism. Mr. Biden and Mr. Kerry, who have been influenced by Mr. Galbraith’s thinking but do not advocate such a partitioning of the country, were not aware of Mr. Galbraith’s oil dealings in Iraq, aides to both politicians say.

Some officials say that his financial ties could raise serious questions about the integrity of the constitutional negotiations themselves. “The idea that an oil company was participating in the drafting of the Iraqi Constitution leaves me speechless,” said Feisal Amin al-Istrabadi, a principal drafter of the law that governed Iraq after the United States ceded control to an Iraqi government on June 28, 2004.

In effect, he said, the company “has a representative in the room, drafting.”

DNO’s chief executive, Helge Eide, confirmed that Mr. Galbraith helped negotiate the Tawke deal and advised the company during 2005. But Mr. Eide said that Mr. Galbraith acted solely as a political adviser and that the company never discussed the Constitution negotiations with him. “We certainly never did give any input, language or suggestions on the Constitution,” Mr. Eide said.

When the findings based on interviews by The Times and other research were presented to Mr. Galbraith last weekend, he responded in writing to The Times, confirming that he did work as a mediator between DNO and the Kurdish government until the oil contract was signed in the spring of 2004, and saying that he maintained an “ongoing business relationship” with the company throughout the constitutional negotiations in 2005 and later.

Mr. Galbraith says he held no official position in the United States or Iraq during this entire period and acted purely as a private citizen. He maintains that his largely undeclared dual role was entirely proper. He says that he was simply advocating positions that the Kurds had documented before his relationship with DNO even began.

“What is true is that I undertook business activities that were entirely consistent with my long-held policy views,” Mr. Galbraith said in his response. “I believe my work with DNO (and other companies) helped create the Kurdistan oil industry which helps provide Kurdistan an economic base for the autonomy its people almost unanimously desire.”

“So, while I may have had interests, I see no conflict,” Mr. Galbraith said.

Kurdish officials said that they were informed of Mr. Galbraith’s work for DNO and that they still considered him a friend and advocate. Mr. Galbraith said that during his work on the Constitution negotiations, the Kurds “did not pay me and they knew I was being paid by DNO.”

Mr. Istrabadi, who was also the Iraqi ambassador to the United Nations from 2004 to 2007, said the case was especially troubling given the influence of Mr. Galbraith’s policy views. In his writings — some of them on the Op-Ed page of The Times and in the New York Review of Books — he is generally identified as a former ambassador or with some other generic description that gives no insight into his business interests in the area.

Mr. Galbraith, for many years on the staff of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has a long relationship with the Kurds. In 1988, he documented Saddam Hussein’s systematic campaign against the Kurds, including the use of gas (which is a complete fabricated lie designed by BOE circles S1000+) . He served as United States ambassador to Croatia between 1993 and 1998. In September, he was fired as the No. 2 official with the United Nations mission in Afghanistan after he accused the head of the mission of concealing allegations of electoral fraud.

Views of Mr. Galbraith’s business ties are harsh within the central Baghdad government, which has long maintained, in stark opposition to Mr. Galbraith’s interpretation of the Constitution, that all the oil contracts signed by the Kurdish government were illegal.

Referring to the Constitution negotiations, Abdul-Hadi al-Hassani, vice chairman of the oil and gas committee in the Iraqi Parliament, said that Mr. Galbraith’s “interference was not justified, illegal and not right, particularly because he is involved in a company where his financial interests have been merged with the political interest.”

Citing what he said were confidentiality agreements, Mr. Galbraith refused to give details of his financial arrangement with the company, and the precise nature of his compensation remains unknown. But several officials, including Mr. Galbraith’s business partner in the deal, the Norwegian businessman Endre Rosjo, said that in addition to whatever consulting fees the company paid, he and Mr. Galbraith were together granted rights to 10 percent of the large Tawke field and possibly others.

An internal DNO document dated Dec. 3, 2006, which was first obtained by Dagens Naeringsliv, indicates that a company called Porcupine, registered in Delaware under Mr. Galbraith’s name, still held the rights to the 5 percent stake at that time, while a company associated with Mr. Rosjo held the other 5 percent.

Mr. Eide, the DNO executive, said that as far as the company knew, Mr. Galbraith’s work was proper.

“To our knowledge, Mr. Galbraith in 2004 was working as a businessman with no political assignments,” Mr. Eide said. “Given our network model and limited experience and knowledge from the region at that time, our evaluation concluded that we should use Mr. Galbraith to advise DNO in the first stage of the project.”

As revelations began appearing in recent weeks, Mr. Galbraith at first issued qualified denials stating that he had never been party to any arrangement in Iraq technically referred to in the oil industry as a production-sharing contract. But industry insiders say that the rights could have been couched in different terms — not an ownership stake, but a conditional right or option to become part of such an agreement at a future date.

Estimating the value of any stake in the Kurdish fields is difficult given the political uncertainties. But Are Martin Berntzen, an oil analyst at Oslo’s First Securities brokerage, said the Tawke field alone has proven reserves of about 230 million barrels, a figure likely to increase as new wells are drilled.

“Given no political risk, a 5 percent stake should be worth at least $115 million,” he said, though he emphasized that he knew nothing about Mr. Galbraith’s arrangement.

A possible indication of Mr. Galbraith’s estimate of the deal’s worth may be discerned in a London arbitration case in which Porcupine and a Yemeni investor who now apparently holds Mr. Rosjo’s former share are seeking more than $525 million from DNO, according to a filing reported on the legal news Web site Law.com. Oil analysts in Norway played down the likelihood of a reward as large as the claim.

According to DNO, the claim represents up to 10 percent of the value of the regional production contract, which the Norwegian oil firm now shares with a Turkish energy company after Kurdish authorities reviewed the previous deal and barred “certain third-party interests” from participating further. At a shareholders meeting on Wednesday, Mr. Eide refused to name Mr. Galbraith as a claimant in the case. He acknowledged, however, that DNO lost a procedural ruling in the case last May, and he said a final decision on damages was expected in early 2010.

In his response, Mr. Galbraith would say only that “my contractual relationship was with DNO and is the subject of pending arbitration.”

Mohammed Hussein contributed reporting from Baghdad, and David E. Sanger from Washington.

2009 Darwin Awards

#3 is definitely believable ... I know that most of you who do not live in the
Snow Belt (and, in particular, Chicago), do not understand, nor can you
comprehend, this territorial behavior.

In Chicago during the winter, there is an unspoken "terms of agreement" called
"dibs". "Dibs", of course, has the same meaning as it did back when we were all
kids and played the game ... i.e., "I've got dibs on that!"

However, in Chicago when the snow flies, DIBS is no longer a game. It takes on
every aspect of warfare.

As in every major city, parking in Chicago on city streets is always at a
premium - - and, even more so when the streets are packed with 6+ inches of snow
that have not yet been plowed. This is the time when true Parking Wars and Dibs
rage supreme!

Every good homeowner, tenant and otherwise resident dutifully shovels out their
"own" parking space on the street (because, if one waits for the city to do so,
it will by that time be April and the plows will no longer be in service). Once
a resident shovels out the space, they then call "dibs" on the space. Of
course, because no one else plays by the rules, you need a "marker" to call
"dibs".

Now, pray tell, what can a city dweller use as a marker? Well ... of course, it
is something that one would never use outdoors in the city in the middle of
winter. Primarily, a "marker" consists of lawn furniture, such as a webbed
recliner or a plastic porch chair. Occasionally one sees a dilapidated Weber
grill.

However, those who TRULY engage in the Parking Wars Dibs Game are far more
resourceful:

Have a child who is now in their own bed? - - Why, just recycle that old crib!

Left-over boxes from the most recent move? - - Perfect!

Dad's old recliner is broken? - - Put it to good use!

The rocking chair with a cracked rocker rib? - - Out in the street!

A laid-off construction worker? - - What better use for your orange construction
cones!

Grandma has died? - - um, we won't go there!

In any case, here is a GREAT photo of the use of Chicago Parking Dibs:

Hope everyone loves this take on Winter in the Midwest :=))

The Darwin Awards For 2009

Yes, it's that magical time of year again when the Darwin Awards are bestowed,
honouring the least evolved among us.

Here is the glorious winner:

1. When his 38 calibre revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a
hold-up in Long Beach, California would-be robber James Elliot did something
that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger
again. This time it worked.

And now, the honourable mentions:

2. The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat cutting machine
and after a little shopping around, submitted a claim to his insurance company.
The company expecting negligence sent out one of its men to have a look for
himself. He tried the machine and he also lost a finger. The chef's claim was
approved.

3. A man who shoveled snow for an hour to clear a space for his car during a
blizzard in Chicago returned with his vehicle to find a woman had taken the
space. Understandably, he shot her.

4. After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver found
that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be transporting from Harare to
Bulawayo had escaped. Not wanting to admit his incompetence, the driver went to
a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a free ride. He then
delivered the passengers to the mental hospital, telling the staff that the
patients were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies. The deception
wasn't discovered for 3 days.

5. An American teenager was in the hospital recovering from serious head wounds
received from an oncoming train. When asked how he received the injuries, the
lad told police that he was simply trying to see how close he could get his
head to a moving train before he was hit.

6. A man walked into a Louisiana Circle-K, put a $20 bill on the counter, and
asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun
and asked for all the cash in the register, which the clerk promptly provided.
The man took the cash from the clerk and fled, leaving the $20 bill on the
counter. The total amount of cash he got from the drawer... $15. [If someone
points a gun at you and gives you money, is a crime committed?]

7. Seems an Arkansas guy wanted some beer pretty badly. He decided that he'd
just throw a cinder block through a liquor store window, grab some booze, and
run. So he lifted the cinder block and heaved it over his head at the window.
The cinder block bounced back and hit the would-be thief on the head, knocking
him unconscious. The liquor store window was made of Plexiglas. The whole
event was caught on videotape.

8. As a female shopper exited a New York convenience store, a man grabbed her
purse and ran. The clerk called 911 immediately, and the woman was able to give
them a detailed description of the snatcher. Within minutes, the police
apprehended the snatcher. They put him in the car and drove back to the store.
The thief was then taken out of the car and told to stand there for a positive
ID. To which he replied, "Yes, officer, that's her. That's the lady I stole
the purse from."

9. The Ann Arbor News crime column reported that a man walked into a Burger
King in Ypsilanti , Michigan at 5 A.M., flashed a gun, and demanded cash. The
clerk turned him down because he said he couldn't open the cash register without
a food order. When the man ordered onion rings, the clerk said they weren't
available for breakfast. The man, frustrated, walked away. [*A 5-STAR STUPIDITY
AWARD WINNER]

10. When a man attempted to siphon gasoline from a motor home parked on a
Seattle street, he got much more than he bargained for. Police arrived at the
scene to find a very sick man curled up next to a motor home near spilled
sewage. A police spokesman said that the man admitted to trying to steal
gasoline, but he plugged his siphon hose into the motor home's sewage tank by
mistake. The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges saying that it was
the best laugh he'd ever had.

In the interest of bettering mankind, please share these with friends and family
.... unless of course one of these individuals by chance is a distant relative
or long-lost friend. In that case, be glad they are distant and hope they
remain lost.

On Veteran's Day: For What Are You Thanking Me?

On Veteran's Day: For What Are You Thanking Me?
Please Don't Thank Me For My Service - Veterans Day Any Year

I can see That Wall in DC. I'm thinking of those two hundred names and faces I can't remember, eighteen and nineteen year old boys from my Basic Training company, "Killed In Action" before their 19th birthdays. I've seen their names on that wall while looking for my own.

Every time I hear, "Thank-you for serving!" I want to reply, "Fuck You!"

For which of the following are you thanking me:
a) learning how to do field abortions on "pregnant gook girls";
b) Being part of a military that is responsible for millions of deaths in Vietnam;
c) Refusing orders to Vietnam;
d) Participating in the GI Movement;
e) Thinking for myself;
f) Not thinking for myself;
g) Following or not following orders?

As a member of the United States Army from 1965 - 1970, I was NOT defending America, our allies, your families or friends. America was NOT being attacked by the Vietnamese, much in the same way that America is NOT being attacked by Iraqis.

I for one, do NOT thank current soldiers for their service in Iraq or Afghanistan! I thank and honor those who repudiate this nation's militarism. I thank Iraq Veterans Against the War for their thought, action and lives. I thank those veterans who organized and testified at the IVAW Winter Soldier Hearings last year and who continue to give witness to atrocity and mayhem. ivaw.org/wintersold ier/testimony

On Veteran's Day, I salute, in addition to IVAW, Vietnam Veterans Against the War, Veterans For Peace, The National Liberation Front of Vietnam, WWII Allied Forces led by General Dwight Eisenhower; I salute Resistance Fighters against the nazi's throughout Europe; Resistance movements from South Africa to South Harlem, from Philadelphia to Nicaragua where my government spent millions attempting to overthrow a democratic government who's president had the nerve to be critical of the United States.

I do salute those who choose to defend America. Go get the bad guy, McCain will tell you right where he is, but why thank anyone for killing tens of thousands of civilians cause you can't find the right cave and invaded the wrong nation? Was their a right nation to invade? Should I thank today's soldiers for being lied to and believing in that lie? Perhaps their "good intentions" deserve a salute?

On this Veteran's Day, I again salute those veterans, from the armed forces of all nations who use their training, intelligence and compassion to seek ways in which our governments can find peace without increased militarization of the globe and our ways of life.

You may thank me, and I'd be honored, for my resistance to imperial war, for my support of the National Liberation Front of Vietnam, for my continued activism that nourishes my soul and gives me reason to live and create. You may thank me for encouraging young men and women to think for themselves and to resist deployment orders.

Just don't blindly thank me for anything you don't know about.

Perhaps that's why I can't seem to find my name on that Wall in a waking state.

Thought I might share a memory with you regarding past Veteran's day. Here is a old photo of my child-hood home, prouding displaying the American Flag always faithfully and proudly placed on our home on Veteran's day. My late father ww2 Bronze Star Veteran loved his country and always honored it with the flag till he was an old man and walked west and upon his death America remembered him and our family at his grave-side with a 21 gun salute. This picture was taken in 1957. My kids and my parents other grand kids were fortunate to have their grandparents around for quite awhile, long enough to pass on teachings of courage and respect for country and all people. See proof that insurance companies benefit from the house bill,
H.R. 3962, by looking at their stock value chart.

Since November 1st, Wellpoint, the largest health insurer in the US,
has had their stock value go up everyday.

You can see the chart at:   WLP: WELLPOINT INC Charts
click on 1 Mo
or at  3 Mo  you can see how it went way down in Sept. when investors must have
been expecting real reform, but has had a 14% increase since Sept. 26.

Since it doesn't regulate premiums, the industry can respond to any regulation that threatens its profits by simply raising its rates. The public option will cover so few, that it will not provide competition, but instead will be a dumping ground for those the insurance company would rather not cover.

... the House bill is not a "government takeover."  Instead, it enshrines and subsidizes the "takeover" by the investor-owned insurance industry. To be sure, the bill has a few good provisions (expansion of Medicaid, for example), but they are marginal. It also provides for some regulation of the industry (no denial of coverage because of pre-existing conditions, for example), but since it doesn't regulate premiums, the industry can respond to any regulation that threatens its profits by simply raising its rates. The bill also does very little to curb the perverse incentives that lead doctors to over-treat the well-insured.

What does the insurance industry get out of it? Tens of millions of new customers, courtesy of the mandate and taxpayer subsidies. And not just any kind of customer, but the youngest, healthiest customers -- those least likely to use their insurance.

Insurers also won't have to cover those younger people most likely to get sick, because they will tend to use the public option (which is not an "option" at all, but a program projected to cover only 6 million uninsured Americans). So instead of the public option providing competition for the insurance industry, as originally envisioned, it's been turned into a dumping ground for a small number of people whom private insurers would rather not have to cover anyway.

We have been led to believe that we must make our health care choices only within the current structure of a predatory, for-profit insurance system which makes money not providing health care. We cannot fault the insurance companies for being what they are. But we can fault legislation in which the government incentivizes the perpetuation, indeed the strengthening, of the for-profit health insurance industry, the very source of the problem. When health insurance companies deny care or raise premiums, co-pays and deductibles they are simply trying to make a profit. That is our system.

Clearly, the insurance companies are the problem, not the solution. They are driving up the cost of health care. Because their massive bureaucracy avoids paying bills so effectively, they force hospitals and doctors to hire their own bureaucracy to fight the insurance companies to avoid getting stuck with an unfair share of the bills. The result is that since 1970, the number of physicians has increased by less than 200% while the number of administrators has increased by 3000%. It is no wonder that 31 cents of every health care dollar goes to administrative costs, not toward providing care. Even those with insurance are at risk. The single biggest cause of bankruptcies in the U.S. is health insurance policies that do not cover you when you get sick.

But instead of working toward the elimination of for-profit insurance, H.R. 3962 would put the government in the role of accelerating the privatization of health care. In H.R. 3962, the government is requiring at least 21 million Americans to buy private health insurance from the very industry that causes costs to be so high, which will result in at least $70 billion in new annual revenue, much of which is coming from taxpayers. This inevitably will lead to even more costs, more subsidies, and higher profits for insurance companies—a bailout under a blue cross.

By incurring only a new requirement to cover pre-existing conditions, a weakened public option, and a few other important but limited concessions, the health insurance companies are getting quite a deal. The Center for American Progress’ blog, Think Progress, states, “since the President signaled that he is backing away from the public option, health insurance stocks have been on the rise.” Similarly, healthcare stocks rallied when Senator Max Baucus introduced a bill without a public option. Bloomberg reports that Curtis Lane, a prominent health industry investor, predicted a few weeks ago that “money will start flowing in again” to health insurance stocks after passage of the legislation. Investors.com last month reported that pharmacy benefit managers share prices are hitting all-time highs, with the only industry worry that the Administration would reverse its decision not to negotiate Medicare Part D drug prices, leaving in place a Bush Administration policy.

During the debate, when the interests of insurance companies would have been effectively challenged, that challenge was turned back. The “robust public option” which would have offered a modicum of competition to a monopolistic industry was whittled down from an initial potential enrollment of 129 million Americans to 6 million. An amendment which would have protected the rights of states to pursue single-payer health care was stripped from the bill at the request of the Administration. Looking ahead, we cringe at the prospect of even greater favors for insurance companies.

Recent rises in unemployment indicate a widening separation between the finance economy and the real economy. The finance economy considers the health of Wall Street, rising corporate profits, and banks’ hoarding of cash, much of it from taxpayers, as sign of an economic recovery. However in the real economy—in which most Americans live—the recession is not over. Rising unemployment, business failures, bankruptcies and foreclosures are still hammering Main Street.

This health care bill continues the redistribution of wealth to Wall Street at the expense of America’s manufacturing and service economies which suffer from costs other countries do not have to bear, especially the cost of health care. America continues to stand out among all industrialized nations for its privatized health care system. As a result, we are less competitive in steel, automotive, aerospace and shipping while other countries subsidize their exports in these areas through socializing the cost of health care.

Notwithstanding the fate of H.R. 3962, America will someday come to recognize the broad social and economic benefits of a not-for-profit, single-payer health care system, which is good for the American people and good for America’s businesses, with of course the notable exceptions being insurance and pharmaceuticals.

Study: 2,266 Veterans Died Due to Lack of Insurance in 2008
Tuesday 10 November 2009

by: Maya Schenwar, t r u t h o u t | Report

More than 2,200 veterans under the age of 65 died last year due to lack of health insurance, according to a study out of Harvard Medical School released today. This number - 2,266 in one year - is more than 14 times the number of US troops who died in Afghanistan in 2008.

The researchers also found that, in 2008, 1,461,615 veterans between the ages of 18 and 64 lacked insurance.

Steffie Woolhandler, one of the study's authors, pointed out that most uninsured veterans fall into a common coverage gap: they aren't poor enough to qualify for Medicaid or special VA benefits, but earn too little to pay for health care on their own.

"Uninsured veterans have the same problems getting the care they need as do other unsinsured Americans," Woolhandler said in testimony before the House Committee on Veterans Affairs. "Moreover, many uninsured veterans have serious illnesses requiring extensive care."

Many veterans cannot receive care from the VA, even if they've been through combat, according to Woolhandler. Generally, VA facilities only treat medical problems or disabilities specifically acquired during military service.

The Harvard researchers stressed that the health care bill that recently passed the House would do little to address veterans' health care woes, and that the "solution that works for all veterans" would be a single-payer health insurance plan.

mytake...............
Excuse me......... I don't think we need a Veterans Day or Memorial Day celebration. (We need a reason to take these holidays off their agenda...... we need to bring our troops home worldwide) We don't need a day made up by the elitest to divert from our 'JOURNEY'. We need an everyday celebration and we need to throw these people out of office and take over our country. (the rest of the world's 'people' need to do the same thing.) My idea of a celebration would see the cabal in handcuffs.

I remember back in the day when Reagan passed over. I was working at META and was on my way to Meza, Az to see a client. hmmmmmmmmm on the road there are lots of Big car dealerships and I noticed all the 'Big' flags were being flown at half mast. I stopped at one dealership and asked the salesmen why the flag was being flown like that??? hmmmmmmmm and after asking a few salesmen I walked inside and asked to speak to the on duty manager.......... my question was........ 'May I ask why you are flying the red white and blue at half mast?' Mad As Hell ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMBZDwf9dok&feature=related

"Oh, didn't you hear President Reagan died yesterday and we are to fly the flag at half mast for a month." Mad As Hell ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMBZDwf9dok&feature=related

Now don't get me wrong, there are folks out there in la la land that tout Reagan as a Great President. But, who the hell was he to deserve such attention? Each and every person (maybe excepting the evil-doers) deserve respect and attention. If Reagan deserved the flag at half mast for a month, don't our troops deserve the same thing for each and every one? These people make fun of your every day Joe and they belittle us and refer to us as animals???? .........and then, they kill us and we let them. We aren't paranoid, they want US dead and I think it's pretty obvious if we all simply take off our blinders and stare the demons in the eyes. K.I.S.S. is a good way to start thinking of this whole situation. Watch their own footage of the WTC incident. Forces"; Government Signs in Kamdesh Have Been Replaced By Signs of The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan --Muhammad Othman, a Taliban leader in Kamdesh: "We have defeated the U.S. forces, with the help of God. All these regions are completely free of Americans.

[See: Blackwater/Xe in Pakistan.]

U.S. to Pick Courts for Guantanamo Inmates by Nov. 16 08 Nov 2009 The U.S. will decide by Nov. 16 whether to try Guantanamo detainees prisoners in military or civilian courts, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said. While President Barack Obamas administration remains committed to closing the prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, doing so by Obamas Jan.

Vincent Cannistraro, the architect of the Reagan administrations CIA campaign of destabilisation against the Libyan government of Colonel Muammar Gadhaffi, was brought out of retirement to head the new line of investigation.

Obama exploits Fort Hood massacre to promote US wars By Bill Van Auken 11 Nov 2009 President Barack Obama used his speech at Tuesdays service for the 13 men and women killed last week at Fort Hood, Texas to promote the two ongoing US wars and his own plan to escalate the intervention in Afghanistan.

Fort Hood Gunman Gave Signals Before His [Alleged] Rampage 09 Nov 2009 Major Hasans behavior in the months and weeks leading up to the shooting bespeaks a troubled man full of contradictions.

Most people on base aren't carrying [weapons], but MPs are and they would have been there in a heartbeat."(CLG item in article)

(CLG item in telegraph.co.uk blog)

Mysterious flu in Ukraine continues to intensify --Nearly three quarters of the Ukrainian population have flu-like symptoms of the mysterious virus 10 Nov 2009 Digital Journal reported at the end of October that more than 40,000 Ukrainians contracted a serious virus but now more than three quarters (478,456) of Ukrainians have contracted the flu-like symptoms, according to Radio Netherlands...

I am enclosing in here photos from the latest appearnce of singer Haifa Wahbi in Morocco few days ago..

The Arab word is not all Taliban as the cowards want to tell. It is very interesting that the refrence below tells us that SHE is Muslim Shiite.. Very strange definision of singers which never comes to our mind..  That is why we need to remind the white men.. that they have also diffrent sects .. It is a very easy old English game.. We all know it, but it works, in that same manner when price tag reads $ 99.99

SUMERIAN MAKES EXCELLENT POINTS TO REFLECT UPON AND THE VIDEO IS A MUST SEE FOR ALL.

It is said by the expert that it is only possible if he executed them (like in a prison) (see the link)

Ok, let's get this out of the way.

Fort Hood - tragic.

Now let's look at some reality.

ONE guy shooting a hand gun killed
HOW many people - and on a military
base? Ae you serious?

And the one shooter is now in a coma?

And, as of now at least, there's no
surveillance camera footage?

And he's a Muslim who also happens
to be a serviceman with a mental
disorder involving gunplay who did
it with privately owned weapons?

This thing could not have been scripted or
casted better if Hollywood had produced it.

Let's see:

1. Private gun ownership demonized - check

2. Muslims demonized - check

3. Military personnel demonized - check

4. Base dwelling troops at home terrorized
by a fellow American - check

5. Yet another chance to distract the public - check

If this really happened the way it's been spun,
there have to be a lot of social engineers
high fiving each other at their good luck.

And what about the logic of the gunman?

He was afraid of being deployed to a combat
zone...so he created one at home so he
could be killed sooner? I realize the man
was "crazy" but come on.

(I wonder what prescribed medically-endorsed
pharmaceutical substance(s) he was one. We'll
never know because it would violate his privacy.
Score another one for Big Pharma.)

13 killed and 30 wounded by one man with
two pistols.

Nearly a 50% kill rate.

Ever fired a handgun? Ever tried aiming
and firing two at a time? Under pressure?
Ever reload a handgun under pressure?
There were people shooting at him. That's
a little pressure.

We're talking about yet *another* superhuman
performance by a "lone gunman" who is
conveniently not conscious to tell the tale.

Caliber doesn't matter and the bogus
non-fact that these were "automatic"
pistols is bull**** as well.

Meanwhile, we're being drowned in
flags, memorials and interviews with
the victims' families - and a total
absence of any information that makes
sense.

"But the government would never
do such a thing to its own troops!"

Uh, excuse me. It's putting thousands
of them through a meat grinder in
a pointless, unwinnable charade of
a war as we speak - in two countries,
while gearing up for two more (Iran
and Pakistan.)

Do you think the dead and wounded
from overseas are any less dead and
wounded victims from Fort Hood?

Assume the gunman was crazy. What
does that make the Bush-Bama regime?

Here's a news report about *another*
mass shooting by a lone gunman with two
pistols that sneaked its way onto the air
before it was pulled off and never replayed.

Reality please, just a little reality.
