I am a father of an autistic teenage girl. I am also a DAN! listed practitioner (www.autismwebsite.com/practitioners/danforeign.html), providing services in biomedical treatment.
I gave up a career as hedge fund manager 12 years ago to pursue a cure for my daughter (Her story in www.autism-nutrition.com/autism-treatment.html). I have since earned a Master of Science Degree (University of Liverpool) and is a Registered Acupuncturist in Singapore. I am proud that we have helped in the recovery process of a number of young children diagnosed with autism since we started biomedical treatment in 2004.
This Group is meant to be the interactive extension of the 3 autism sites I currently maintain: www.the-autism-clinic.com (Biomedical Treatment), www.autism-nutrition.com (Autism Nutrition, Alternative Medicine and Healing), www.autismforum.com (Autism advocacy, life and relationship issues).
The Group is open to all persons affected by or involved in autism, including parents, professionals, autistic individuals and well wishers. As a courtesy, professions, service providers and sellers of products are requested to identify themselves in postings e.g. Jane Tan, ABA Therapist.
Free exchange of ideas and civil discussions are encouraged. Comments that embarass or put anyone in a bad light are discouraged. Where such comments are deemed useful for learning purposes, names of companies and individuals shall be left out. Violators will be moderated.
By including professionals, I am hoping that newer parents will be able to get accurate and sound information about the different options that are available. However, this is not a complains bureau. If you have issues with a service, it is more constructive to sort it out with the provider concern. My advice is: Don't burn your bridges with your professionals.
I encourage evidence-based information and discussions.
Autism is Treatable and Recovery is Possible.
