Hi, I'm Sharisa Joy Kochmeister, a non-verbal 30 year old woman with autism AND a powerful advocate for people's rights. I have started this new electronic magazine for autism, "The Voices and Choices of Autism".
The premiere issue of 120 pages became available June 20th to about 400 subscribers and we has since grown to over 600 subscribers worldwide. E-mail subscription is FREE. Authors and consultants include Stephen Shore, Ed.D; Brian R. King, LCSW; Donna Williams: Judy Endow, MSW; and others on and off the spectrum.
Our mission is to expand understanding and acceptance of autism and of people with ASD and Asperger's; and to reinforce the idea that this isn't a disease to be cured, but a way of living and being that should be understood/supported as needed and only if people being supported are participants.
It's our goal to give those on the spectrum and those who care and advocate for them an open, widely read forum to share, learn, educate and feel free to express in a positive, open, hopeful way.
