For over twenty years, I - Arthur Golden, see brief biography at http://www.arthurgolden.blogspot.com/ - have engaged in extensive activities as an advocate for persons with disabilities, including autism. While many such advocates are "self-appointed," I was explicitly asked by other concerned people to undertake such activities, starting in April 1980 with Mrs. Barbara Dubin, a social worker from my son Ben's local school district of Brookline, Massachusetts, and including in September 1985 by the late Dr. Kiyo Kitahara (founder of the Boston Higashi School - see http://www.bostonhigashi.org ) and in May 2003 in New York by a young man, with severe autism, through the use of Facilitated Communication (FC) according to my son Ben's approach to FC (as explained at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Autism-Ben_Golden/ ).
