I started with the Acidophilus Pearls this week with my 26 lb. three year
old non-verbal son and we have had success now four days in a row, Thank Gd.
I coated the balls in coconut butter and gave him a drink against his will.
The balls went down and his eyes got real big, but it worked. I also tried
the Lauricidin pellets. They are shaped like lentils - flatish. They went
down even easier. And by the way, my son chewed one by accident and he did
not seem upset at all. He is so used to my cooking that it wasn't that bad
in comparison to his normal food!

You may want to start with those tiny Acidophillus Pearls. They are
tiny balls and easy to swallow. My 3 year old can swallow them. Also,
a couple people on the lists (and I have heard elsewhere) say that
these survive an acidic environment so their survival rate is better
than other brands. Acidophillus is something that can certainly
benefit the girls, so this may be a place to start.

Hello all,
So I was combing through our son's medical records after having my
recent conversations with my sister re: vaccinating her little girl
(btw, they decided not to vaccinate for now! Thanks everyone for your
input. They decided that they were getting inaccurate information
from the doctor: )
Anyway, going through our son's medical records from when he was a
newborn. He got the HepB at 22hrs old. Was severely jaundiced
(19.5=test result, norm=0-1.5), blood in urine and unconsolable
crying within 24 hrs of that, re-hospitalized, put under bililights
for another 18 hrs, then re-released from the hospital. That much I
knew. But I just found a document on a bacterial test that was done,
but we had not known about. He had E.Coli present in a urine sample,
apparently high enough to raise the flag on the computer program.
Can anyone shed any light on how an infant only 36 hrs old would have
got e.coli?
Thank you,
Rebecca Ryan

So his lead *might* be low, altho on another message board a child with low lead
levels in the blood was still lead toxic.

Jennifer,

Big Business is the one keeping the problems hushed up, IMO.
Government would benefit from revealing the issues and resolving
them (lower national health costs, decrease special education needs,
decreased need for early intervention, etc).

Maybe we need Michael Moore to do a number on this one? Government
is complicit, after all, and it is not protecting its youngest, most
vulnerable citizens!

Hi -

Try getting your sister's partner to read this.

http://www.redflagsweekly.com/yazbak/2003_nov01_1P.html

It's long but it discusses the links between autism and the MMP -
although it does not address the vacs you mentioned. It addresses
the relationship between the alarming rise in autism in the USA and
UK since the MMP was introduced in each.

Also, it points to gastro-intestinal problems resulting from the
vacs.

Your sister's partner may not retain his faith in doctors or
vaccines after reading this one!

All the best.

Marianne,

I'm no expert at all this but my son used Olive Leaf Extract to help
keep all the nasties at bay, alternating with GSE and OoO.
Probiotics he takes are Culturelle and Perfect Stool Formula (Ojibwa
Tea company has this). His stools are fantastic and his yeast-
bacteria problem appears to be under control (we have had difficulty
balancing so the yeast treatment doesn't encourage the bacteria but
we seem to be getting the hang of it!).

Anyway, the Perfect Stool Formula is great. Highly recommended.

Your son's symptoms sound similar to some my son experiences when he
has reflux. The head banging and skin picking are usually
associated with pain (one pain temporarily cancelling out another,
the basis of many self-injurious behaviours).

However, it is also possible he's responding to a supplement he may
not need anymore or in the dose rate given (assuming he's taking
enzymes or a gut-healing supp as well as others....)

Hello, I just wanted to say that I totally agree with andy. Why use
something that is very hard on your child's liver, and is not a chelator? Just
like
he said, get the prescription from your doctor for the DMSA, or you could just
get it without your doctor through vrp.com and then follow Andy's low dose
protocol. If your child's like the thousands of our children on this list, you
will see him slowly but surely come back to you. You will heal him. And you
will know in a couple of rounds whether or not it is working. You will be
able to tell just by watching your child improve. It is really worth the try.
Just make sure it is the low dose protocol. Ashi

Hi Hope,
we started chelation 2 years ago, when my son was almost 3 years old
(he is almost 5 now). When my son was 2, he had very bad mercury
poisoning from my breast milk. One year later I realized that he had
all symptoms of acrodynia, and after this illness he lost all
interest in the world, stopped making any sounds, stopped playing
and had extremely short attention span. He wanted to take something
but was forgetting about it before his hand could reach this thing.
He refused even to approach his toys. His hair test did not indicate
mercury toxicity, he did not meet counting rules, but had antimony
in red and lead, aluminum and silver in yellow. Howether, his red
blood cells test showed very high mercury ,silver and copper. We
chelated for one year with DMSA and another year with DMSA+ALA.
David still does not talk but he is really different comparing with
that time 2 years ago. He is happy, he is interested in everything,
his eye contact is normal, he likes to play, his receptive language
improved a lot, he interacts with his parents, sisters, teachers, he
just started pointing, almost potty trained. His speech therapist
says that he tries hard to say some words. He vocalizes a lot, he
started humming songs ("Twinkle twinkle little star" for example),
and he started saying some words occasionally ("I
want", "More", "All done"), calls me "Mama" and himself "Dodi". So,
I am glad that I did chelation and I will continue. He did not
respond to GFCF diet, and first did not benefit from ABA. Chelation
was the main thing which caused his progress. I stopped doing urine
tests after we started ALA, so I don't know if his lead is still
high.

Hi Nicole, My kids don't swallow pills/capsules either.
What I do is open the capsule and mix it with water or juice. Then
I shoot it into their mouths with an oral syringe ( you can get
these in the baby section at most stores). Some people mix the
powder in juice and have their kids drink in. This didn't work for
me. My kids would take a sip and wouldn't touch it after that. You
will figure out what works best for you. Good luck, Michelle

supersonic tastebuds, and they don't drink it. Good luck to you,
you will figure out what works for you. Michelle

I am not saying to give the vaccine to yourself or your children. I am
merely saying it is available separately and so more safely now than
the combo form. As for whether or not to give the shots, I agree with
Andy, read the Stephanie Cave book. It is very informative and can
help you make more informed decisions. Given that we are a
"vaccinated" society, these diseases do re-emerge and then the doctors
do not know what it going on and misdiagnosis the disease. In certain
cases, it may make sense to vaccinate in others not. I agree that the
Hep -B is a stupid vaccination to give a 2 day old or even a 6 month
old or a 10 year old, etc. You should wait until you or your child gets
into intravenous drugs or active with prostitues. The chicken pox is
another inane vaccine. However, the components of DTaP are very
horrible diseases so maybe you would consider them. The problem is
that the potency of the vaccinations have changed over the years and
the number of vaccines given to small children have increased. No one
has studied the cumulative effects. They don't really even study the
effects of the vaccines before administering them to the public. So
who knows. I think the best idea is to be informed. Not ignorant
and for vaccines, nor ignorant and against them.

Unfortunately, I was not informed about vaccines and blindly gave them
to my first child. I stopped before the MMR with my second child. I
am not totally against vaccinations if you know your bio-chemistry and
can withstand them. I am not totally for them either. In fact, I am
kind of suspect of them.

Some people put the powder between two layers of food, such as pear
sauce... some people shake/mix the powders into juice... if you want
to try to teach her to swallow, you have to start with very small
pills...can use empty ones... try putting the pill under the tongue
and getting her to drink a certain amount of liquid in the glass.
The pill should flow out from under the tongue and down the throat
without much effort. Might take a while to get the idea of it. I
taught my son to swallow pills by placing tiny pills in the end of a
straw and using it like a blow-gun--blowing into the straw while he
held his mouth open, aiming for the back of his throat. After a few
gags he got the idea that he could do this. He thought it was
hilarious because it reminded him of the cartoons on TV. And somehow
he got to be quite a pro. He can swallow two, sometimes three pills
at a time now, and he's only six.

Hi everyone!

I am new to this list. I have fraternal girl twins from China. One
is labeled autistic. The other is not, but has some of the same
symptoms. They are almost 5 years old.

I just got the hair analysis back and some of the bloodwork. The
doctor has perscribed vitamins & minerals for both. I can not afford
to have the vitamins compounded for both and want to teach them how
to swallow a capsule. How do I do this? We tried with one tonight,
and she bit the pill, making a big yucky face.

What works? Are there other alternatives?

Thanks!

Nicole

Thanks and have a nice Thanksgiving. Becky in Chesapeake, VA

-- Okay, this fits with other data. I read a newspaper report
recently that mentioned a study that said intelligence is postively
correlated to cranial size. And as most of us know by now, autistic
kids tend to have larger skulls than other kids.

Could it be that immature, highly intelligent brains are like finely
tuned machinery that performs very well but can easily be thrown out
of whack?

It seems doubly tragic that kids with such potential have been so
badly damaged, but I take solace in case studies where chelation and
other treatments have helped them recover from autism while retaining
all their positive intellectual abilties.

This morning I got up at 5:45 so I could call in to a radio show on
WPR called the "Best of our Knowledge". There was a researcher taking
questions about the Washington Autism Summit last week. After getting
by the screeners and being put on hold for 15 minutes I was able to
ask the following question, " Hi, I'm employed in a Medical
Toxicology Lab where our specialty is heavy metal poisoning caused by
compounds such as lead and mercury. When I found out children were
recieving 187.5 micrograms of organic mercury in the first six months
of life via vaccines, I was shocked. My question is this, Why does
the medical community ignore this assault when the rates of childhood
neurological disorders such as autim are soaring?". I didn't get my
question answered but I got the interviewer to ask several follow-up
questions. We need to keep publicizing this any way we can. Mike

We had to take a break too, right around the same rounds as you...
Lauricidin really helped... so did Aqua Flora High Potency... L-
glutamine... Enzymatic Therapy's Probiotic Pearls now and then... and
an occassional ADP Tablet (emulsified oil of oregano). I would try
to get some of these or other yeast things started and then resume
chelating at whatever point you feel comfortable. We are kind of in
the same boat... we resumed with oral dmps but then he had an
allergic reaction to it, and now we're just kind of sitting in limbo
trying to decide to we return to the dmsa...do we just do ALA only...
do I just let things go until June and then chelate aggressively all
summer long... anyhow, just try to get a good yeast protocol going
and then whenever you're comfortable, resume. From what I have read,
it is going to take awhile to get past this "yeasty" phase. I just
keep telling myself that all this yeast is not normal and all the
more reason to keep chelating!
