Just thought I'd share--
Yesterday afternoon I asked my husband where our son was. He said, "Oh, I don't know. I guess he went outside." We looked out and he had walked out to the van, opened the sliding door, and found his beloved World History book. Then he brought it back into the house.
This is remarkable for us! He's never done anything like this. Why? Because he has a movement disorder and has difficulty continuing motion. Yes, in the house he might go downstairs and get something, but for a young man with CP who has difficulty opening doors etc. to remember where the WH book was, go outside, tackle the steps off the porch, the car door, and house door in and out is pretty neat. I asked him about it on his typing board and he said that ordinarily he would have been distracted, or maybe told his body to get up and do something but it wouldn't move, so he'd just sit there and get mad! Is the chelation doing something with connections for him?
We've been noticing that he has been doing more intentional movement lately--going outside just to walk around etc. He's also telling me that words are much more available in his brain now, and he just needs the courage to say them. In other words, instead of hunting for words (which I find myself doing all the time) he knows them but is too afraid to speak them out. So . . . I guess that's the next step.
I find this all very interesting, especially since we are only one month into this, haven't gotten a high urine mercury level yet, (hopefully this week), and haven't started the LA for the brain at all.
Courage!
