We are now giving Jen a three-week break from the ALA alone. We have been on the ALA for a few months. We were doing 200 mg 4 times a day one week on and one week off. This was after the combination of DMSA and ALA and she was tested to be sure we had the Mercury and other heavy metals out as needed. Jen gain speech receptive and a little expressive, eye contact has improved, and she is interacting with other more. She is now walking from our front door and getting on the bus by herself and she also gets off the bus herself. She hands me her school bag and says "take" then she turns and runs back out side to play on her swing set. Our Collie Dog want to be outside with Jen, but she get upset with the dog because of his behavior of enticing and teasing her to play with him. So she walks in the front door with the dog following and as soon as the dog is inside she slips back out the front door leaving the dog trapped inside and crying to be out with Jen. I believe Jen is much more aggressive now and when she is taking ALA, but she is much more aware of her situation and lack of ability.
This past weekend Jen, my other daughter Kim and I went camping with our Junior Girl Scout Troop. Jen love the walking through the woods and she was right with the other girls. She does not have the minor motor skills of the other girls her age, but she seems to be very interested everything they do and make.
Jen still has not potty train, but is now letting me know when her diaper in uncomfortable. She is also having a preoccupation with her clothing and she seems very concerned that her clothing is adjusted correctly on her body correctly. She seems very preoccupied by the potty at school.
We just received a test back from Kennedy Krieger Institute on Jen. It was a blood test ... titled ... RBC Total Lipid Fatty Acid. Interpretation: Overall, the results are within our normal limits. Boy... is that strange to see the word "Normal" in relationship to Jen! It's great, but I had to look at three times before I was sure this was real.
Take Care and God Bless,
