Autism-Forsyth is the Yahoo Support Group for Forsyth County Georgia's A.S.C.E.N.D.-ER (Autism Spectrum Community Efforts and New Directions, Exceptional Resources). Autism-Forsyth is meant as an on-line discussion group and resource for those persons served by A.S.C.E.N.D.-ER, Inc.
A.S.C.E.N.D.-ER, Inc. serves as a resource to individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), their families, and the professionals involved in their care and networking opportunities. It also contributes to the advancement of awareness, knowledge, and understanding of ASD within the local and greater community as well as meeting the needs of and therefore providing improved quality of life for individuals with autism and their families.
On Sunday, May 2nd from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Northside Forsyth Hospital classroom B, ASCEND-ER will host Stephanie H. Perleberg, Ph.D., a Licensed Psychologist specializing in child and adolescent assessment, and therapy with individuals and families. Dr. Perleberg earned her Masters Degree in Learning Disabilities from Northwestern University and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Georgia State University. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in developmental disabilities through Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Perleberg is experienced in assessment with learning disabilities, attention problems, acquired brain injury, autism spectrum disorders, and a wide range of developmental disabilities. Her expertise in therapy includes parenting issues, adolescent/adult social and personal growth, anxiety and stress management, and relationship concerns.
