Hi everyone. My name is Danielle and I am new here. I started the
Atkins diet two weeks ago and I have lost 10 pounds. I just finished
reading the New Diet Revolutiona and have picked through Atkins for
Life and a few recipe books. I am very unclear about one thing and
hopefully someone can answer this for me... In the New Diet Revolution
there is a list of "free' foods. Does this just mean that they are carb
free or does it mean that you dont have to count the carbs that are in
them? For example... eggs are listed as a free food yet my eggs are 1
carb per each egg. This can make a difference for me since I will be
doing the induction period for more than two weeks. Im barely going
over ten carbs a day now because I am not hungry but in the event that
I have a day where I want to eat more I want to make sure that I am
counting correctly. I am also up for any advice!
Thanks!
Danielle
Danielle,
I apologize for my delayed response. I am too far behind in emails it seems.
You DO need to count the carbs of everything you eat.
I think the free food mention is in an earlier edition of DANDR. Do you
have the 2002 version? That is the most update edition.
You do want to make sure that you eat up to your 20 carb daily allotment, so
that you are eating enough food to lose weight.
You should be getting 12-15 carbs per day from your veggies.
HTH
Happy Low Carbing!
