Gwen, I have been reading your posts and I totally understand where you are coming from.  I have a few friends who have had WLS, but I am the only one with the sleeve.  In fact, I am the only sleeve my doctor has done (usually a DS surgeon) and the only one in my support group.  When they start talking about how the DS is a better surgery than the VSG, I just have to raise my hand and remind them that I had the VSG and am loosing just as well as they are.  I know that I stand a bigger chance of failure, but we will just have to wait and see.  My surgeon says don't worry about the carbs if they are from natural sources like vegetables and whole grains.  Steer clear of processed foods.
About the watermelon.  I say go for it.  When I first ate watermelon, I could only get in a few bites before the foamies started.  The next time I ate watermelon, I got a bowl of watermelon and an extra bowl.  After I had swallowed my max of the pulp, I continued to bite, chew and then spit out the watermelon.  I know that it sounds gross and my DH laughed at me, but I wanted to taste the watermelon and not just two bites.  So I guess I had my watermelon and ate it too (kind of).
I also wanted to address slow loosing.  My surgeon at the last support group meeting said that if you loose a considerable amt before surgery, you will loose slower after.  Don't know how true it is, but you did loose great before the surgery and maybe that explains why you think it is slowing down.  But, girl, your totals look good to me.  Keep up the good work.

I don't know anyone else locally who has the sleeve. I don't know
many who have had WLS at all. So I have to rely on my surgeon's
office. I seem to be doing just fine by them. My weight is on
track. The NUT seems uninterested in me. Probably since I have
called with questions and am doing what they want me to with calories
and protein. And I am probably a little less gung-ho about
introducing everything. I would love a bagel (I think it sounds
good, just may not taste the same) and I could have one, but I
won't. The reason for having my sleeve was so I could have
everything, but it didn't mean I was going to eat like I could have
everything. KWIM?

My bloodwork has been good. I take my vitamin and thyroid meds
faithfully. But I am confused about net carbs and things like
that. Since I don't know I go by what the total is. I use my carb
book for fresh things (although I am not nearly as worried about
natual carbs as processed ones.) I log the carbs, but I don't do a
running total like I do caloires and protein. I know if I had
cereal, I am not going to have a protein bar or a protein shake the
same day. I think that carbs are a rudder at this stage more than
anything. They can direct where we go, but the engine is going to
determin how fast.
