Carbs - Question and vent.... long (sorry!)   Message List

Re: Carbs - Question and vent.... long (sorry!)

I don't know anyone else locally who has the sleeve. I don't know
many who have had WLS at all. So I have to rely on my surgeon's
office. I seem to be doing just fine by them. My weight is on
track. The NUT seems uninterested in me. Probably since I have
called with questions and am doing what they want me to with calories
and protein. And I am probably a little less gung-ho about
introducing everything. I would love a bagel (I think it sounds
good, just may not taste the same) and I could have one, but I
won't. The reason for having my sleeve was so I could have
everything, but it didn't mean I was going to eat like I could have
everything. KWIM?

My bloodwork has been good. I take my vitamin and thyroid meds
faithfully. But I am confused about net carbs and things like
that. Since I don't know I go by what the total is. I use my carb
book for fresh things (although I am not nearly as worried about
natual carbs as processed ones.) I log the carbs, but I don't do a
running total like I do caloires and protein. I know if I had
cereal, I am not going to have a protein bar or a protein shake the
same day. I think that carbs are a rudder at this stage more than
anything. They can direct where we go, but the engine is going to
determin how fast.
