As an employee of a bariatric Surgeon, I get annoyed by many
individuals on OH who think they are so "All-knowing" about the
advice to give people. Here's the 411, the majority of obesity
surgery patients ARE NOT CORRECTLY FOLLOWED-UP by the Physicians and
Dietitians, therefore 1/2 of what they say is based on what they
think they read, heard or thought.
Now, I understand that there are others who are followed
appropriately, but they do tend to be fewer.
My dietitians tells me carbs okay in minimun amounts. Just be
careful. Also, a Carb does not "count" as a carb if it is a protein
source. Therefore, your amount of total Carbs/Day varies. You want to
stay under say 60 carbs, but you are not counting carbs from protein
shakes etc... The same is true of fats. For example, I sometiems
snack on a few peanuts if I'm out and can't get my meal-time in. The
peanuts are a protein source for me therefore, they do not count as a
fat.
Of course, I say this, but for you it may be different. I follow my
diet with my dietitian. My doctor regularly checks my bloodwork and
makes sure things are going well.
