Aspie alert? : The latest news i've heard
Greg et al., I realize that there are Aspies who agitate for reform and for
acceptance of
autism. There really IS a burst of Asperger's awareness going on. I'm glad to
find info
on how other adults are managing with late-life diagnoses. I'm also glad to
hear that
kids with Asperger's have a better chance for the coaching that can make SUCH a
big
difference in how they cope and how they select occupations that might carry
them
through adulthood with successful careers. There are occupations that Aspies
excel
at and might well be able to use to bypass the obstacles that unfortunate Aspies
hit as
they attempt to live in the world without any coaching to help them overcome
difficulties
that I (for one) hit over and over. I got clobbered. I see now that I had some
success
when I was shielded by an employer who valued my strengths and compensated for
my shortcomings. I can only hope that we all find such a niche in life.
Partners too are
valuable in compensating and in covering for skills that Aspies lack. It's all
good. -Zer
(who is not particularly intent on making the world safe for Aspies, only on
helping us;
there are abundant lists for Aspies on the warpath -- and I wish them well, I
really do.)
