http://www.thislife.org/pages/descriptions/03/234.html ~ Sunday
evening, listening to NPRadio, I heard a startling query. Began
googling to see what I could find to toss onto this site so we can
explore the question raised: Talking, what is it good for? It's all
about phrases that are printed up for women to use in explaining
to men why the women are not able to communicate what
concerns women. Men, apparently, do not have a need for such
phrases. Aha, here it is, a reprise from 2003, running today! -Zer

Read This for Me, a self-help book that doesn't just give you
general advice. It gives you actual scripts to use in various
difficult situations: pre-written speeches to deliver if you've fallen
out of love with your boyfriend, say, or if you've decided you want
to have a baby. (6 minutes) ... < <

>...a really nifty book I heard about on NPR's "This American Life"
called "Please Read This For Me," by Neil Chesanow (William
Morrow, 1988). Yes, it is a self-help book and, yes, it was written
so long ago that it is geared toward women (the subhead is
"How to tell the man you love things you can't put into words"),
but having read it, I don't find the book any more gender exclusive
than say a good chick flick, which, I'm proud to say, my very own
husband has enjoyed, albeit unwittingly.
> "Please Read This For Me" gives you actual short scripts to
use in various difficult situations: written speeches to deliver if
you've fallen out of love or you've decided not to have a baby or
you need to talk calmly and honestly about finances, sex or drug
use, or any other sensitive subject. (3/22/03 by Marney Rich
