Salam

Doktor saya ingin bertanya adakah pengambilan Glucosamine adalah
dibolehkan bagi wanita berusia 28 tahun iaitu menghampiri usia 30-an.

Hi I am a pre-nursing student starting my Bachelor of Nursing in Feb
08 here in New Zealand.
The reason I am messaging you is for some advice, and if you cant
help me then I hope you will know someone that can.
My father-in-law had a stroke just 4 days ago. He has right side
paralysis, is trying to talk but isnt very responsive. He is in
Mumbai India and I can not be with him but my partner is with him. I
need to know what questions to ask the doctor and what my partner can
be doing to help, eg talking to him, touching him etc. We are afraid
he isnt getting the correct care but dont know what to look for or
what to ask. He had an MRI just today and the doctor said swelling is
there .. bleeding has stopped ... and there is blockage in the
arteries... they may need to operate but will observe him for a week.
They are suggesting they may do an tracheostomy if he is there longer
than 10 days, he is still on ventilator but I am not sure how sedated
he is. How long should he be on ventilator, should the swelling
reduce at what rate? I know these are in a way, unanswerable but any
advice? He can raise his arm when asked but keeps his eyes closed and
remains pretty much non responsive most of th time. Please help in
any advice or anything. My partner is freaking out and although I
have done a lot of reading online I still would like some one on one
advice.
Thanks.
Putali

Dear Putali,

It sounds like your father is suffering from a severe stroke. An elderly patient
suffering from stroke has so many factors to consider in their management.A good
communication with the attending physician is very important.Tracheostomy is
needed for easy management of his airway.

Hi Dr Hamid,
I haven't been to any doctor in years, my health has been really bad
though I just kept trying wishing it would fix on its own, its not
going so well though. I've had really bad problems for a really long
time now with digestion and elimination. In last few years or so I've
had alot of ballooning I get really full of toxic like gases and can't
eliminate them, its really unpleasant and effects other parts of me also.

Often my ears block up and also sometimes I get headaches really bad
like an intense squeezing pressure, it really makes me feel awful
sometimes I wanna scream, I don't though cause that would be too
embarassing, lol!!

I have alot of bad cramps in stomach and it feels like things really
wanna just all give it keeps holding on though and makes me feel
really sick. I get funny buzzing like feelings in my tongue and a
cotton like feeling in my throat and often feel really "spacy" it
makes me feel so sick and lately especially when I get too filled up
with gas pressure it makes me vomit alot too, like I mean I feel my
stomach trying it won't though then I start almost suffocating then
vomit often its more just dry though yet I can't stop it feels really
bad and I only get relief if I can expel some of the gastric pressure.

I'm also having trouble with mucus in digestive system often if I'm
blocked and do enemas instead of actual normal matters coming out, I
get like all kinds of white gucky mucus out only if I keep doing more
sometimes I finally get other wastes out almost like the mucus is
there gluing it all in there somehow.

its really uncomfortable and really making things hard for me, I'm
also having trouble with a really bad cough and loosing my voice, see
I used to sing as a passion hobby, like write songs, sing them, go to
karaokee contests win money, sing with band in bar, now I can't say
whole sentence or sing a note without almost dying from caughing all
kinds of gross stuff up. My voice is really fading not much left of it :(

Unfortunately in June I started smoking again after ten years as a non
smoker I'm really trying to quit its really hard though.

I really need some advice, please help me, I'm in really bad shape.

Thanks so much for providing this, I'm really glad I found this, I'm
so scared to go get looked at I need some help though, thanks so much
for your time, thanks :)

Dear Member,

It sounds like you might be suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome.I suggest
you consult your Gastroenterologist to do Upper and Lower Gastrointestinal
Endoscopy to rule out any physical problems before starting you on a trial of
medications.

Hey Doctor..I know some members may have already posted numerous
questions and topics about this..but i need to know for myself and
seek some advice b4 i drive myself insane so here goes.
For the past month or so...I've been having really bad abomdinal
pain even though on both sides, more on the upper and lower right
side of the stomach/abdomen.
I have had a abdominal Cat-Scan, and a Colonoscopy with Biopsy done
recently and all they told me is that I have irritable bowel syndrom
with constipation and he put me on a muscle relaxer pill to help it..
Its been helping with the muscles and constipation and
flatuance..but what it is not helping is the bad pain I get at times
and constantly mostly on the lower right side of the abdomen.
I have had my mom call and ask what it may be, if it may have been
something with appendicitis and all they told her was that a
colonsocopy was used to find out about that as well as what i have
now.
I have a good time trusting doctors and specialists (well my
gasternerologist), but I am so scared and confused...I trust him, I
just am going nuts driving myself insane..what would u reccommend?
I have a strogn appetiite, no fever, and am rarely-never nauseous
and never vomiting.

Thank you for your time
Maryann

Dear Maryann,

I suggest you consult a General/Gastrointestinal Surgeon and he may consider
doing A Diagnostic Laparoscopy which can identify a "rumbling" Acute
Appendicitis. He can also proceed to do Lapaorscopic Appendectomy if such a
condition is discovered.

Doktor...saya ingin bertanya...2hari lepas selepas bangun tidur saya
mengalami masalah sakit dilutut terutama ketika ingin membengkokkan

penyakit.

Dear Member,

Feeling spasm and weakness in both arms and legs are not common and they are not
normal. You should always suspect something abdnormal. You should consult a
physician who should examine your limbs locally and also perhaps do some tests
to screen for other systemic problems.

Dear Dr,

I had a myomectomy 6 weeks ago to remove a fibroid of 2.5 cm in
diameter. I saw my gynecologist today and she wants to do an
insemination next week. I am a bit worried as all the websites I read
state that you must wait 4 - 6 months. I mentioned this to the gyne and
she said that I am fully healed after 6 weeks. Please let me know what
your opinion is and whether I should go ahead or wait until January.
(She also burnt "blisters" off of my ovaries (she didn't call it cysts
so I don't know if it was cysts (I'm from South Africa so the closest
word to my home language which she used, will be blisters or sacks).
Will they come back if I wait until January? Your advice will be
appreciated.

Dear Member,

You should get a second opinion from a different Gynaecologist.

having lower abd pain and weight loss would require a

to do and how they had to da plz

Dear Member,

The Orthopaedic Surgeon will opt to fuse the ankle joint or any joint for that
matter if the injury has damaged the joint so badly and it is causing a lot of
pain and deformity. In this situation it is better not to have the joint than to
have one.By fusing the joint one will loose the joint but hopefully the symptoms
will also disappear.

Dear Dr Hamid

Hello Dr Hamid. This is my first time see this website. Before
this i have read more about doctor article in the Utusan Malaysia
website. I already have gastric around 7 years, but not very serious.
Last few months, I few gastric around 1 week but not serious pain, just
little pain. So I have seen the doctor for check. The Dr has asked me
to endoscope, but I scared so just ask the doctor give me a medicine.
So the doctor advise me must take the food follow time and can't take
the stimulate food. I also can't simply take food because I¡¯m also a
vegetarian. After take the medicine I feel better. But this few day,
the pain like last time happen again. But this time I can't few which
part pain. Firstly I worry is appendiks, because I have pain around
that part. I try search more about this symptom. Problem, I don't have
the symptom because I not the serious pain. Actually may I know how we
know we get the disease of gastric ulcer and other? As I know, sometime
the disease we have won't give us any signal. May doctor give some
opinion?

yenying

Dear Yen Ying,

The main cause of Gastric Ulcer or Duodenal Ulcer is the bacteria called
Helicobacter pylori.Thats why if a person continues to suffer from tummy pain
especially in the upper part, one should get an endoscopy done.Endoscopy will be
able to detect the ulcer.detect the bacteria and exclude stomach cancer. It is
not painful to have an endoscopy.

If the pain becomes unusual especially is the location is in the right lower
part of the tummy, one should see a doctor quickly for physical examination to
exclude acute appendicitis.

Immediately afterwards, I got violently sick, throwing up and in
intense pain. Was rushed back to E.R. They gave3 shots, 2 next to

home.
Having a bowel movement even with drinking plenty of water was very
little. Still suffering, I drank prune juice, took 2 over the counter
suppositories last night. One at 6pm. and another around 11:30 p.m.
Bowels moved some..Felt bloated and hurting today, so gave myself an
over the counter enema around 8a.m. this morning..The pain has shifted
to right up under my chest, going upward. It eases and don't really
hurt until I try to drink something..Painful trying to drink water or
anything, eating is out of the question. I haven't eaten anything since
taking the enema..My bowels moved with the enema, not a much as I would
have liked, but did move and has moved a tiny bit since..
Can you tell me what you think is going on here?
I know I am going to have to at least drink something, but it hurts...

~Linda

Dear Linda,

It sounds like you are having a bowel obstruction?I hope you are already under
the care of a surgeon. If clinically proven bowel obstruction and no known cause
is determined, you may need an operation. If you had an operation on your tummy
before, the obstruction could be due to adhesions(scarring) from the previous
operation and the surgeon might choose to treat you with intravenous fluids and
keeping you fasted for 2-3 days to see whether the obstruction can be resolved
without any operation.Otherwise another operation might still be required to
solve the matter.

it regrow? Does it regrow from the bone, the remaining periosteum or

Dear Member,

Periosteum is just a tissue lining the skull bone underneath the scalp. It will
easily grow from the adjacent intact periosteum to cover the defective area over
the hole in the skull bone.

Dear April,

You definitely need to see a Doctor. In fact you need to see a Surgeon as soon as
possible for him to undertake Examination under anaesthesia and if the
haemorrhoids are large and prolapsing, excisions of those haemorrhoids need to

Dear Member,

I advise you to undergo some blood tests checking your blood parameters and also
consult an ENT Surgeon to examine your Throat region especially.Quite often
shorty multiple lymph nodes in the neck is due to mere recurrent infections in
the throat.

Blood in the stool is usually caused by one of the 2 conditions;either

Hi Im a 24 year old male - This is a very embaressing issue for me and
i dare not go to my local GP for fear of ridicule- he isnt the most
understanding of doctors unfortunately but last year i found a small
lump growing on one of my testicles and through the course of the year
it has grown bigger and is now a small cherry size - the lump appears
to be quite milky inside and causes me no pain or discomfort at all
but i am unsure as to what to do - can you offer any advice at all
PLEASE any feedback would be fantastic

Dear Member,

Any lump arising from or near the testicle needs specialist evaluation and also
ultrasound.I advise you to consult a Surgeon or a Urologist for further check up
and most probably an operation to remove the lump. The most feared testicle lump
is Testicular Cancer.So don't wait.

Dear Sir

My brother, 30 yr old, is about to go for cleft lip surgery, ut we are
not sure of outcomes. He is having no bifurcation of lip, onle a mark
coming from nose to lip in the area where it is about to bifurcate.

Consulting doctor said, he is sure of 90% correction. But things which
i wanted to know that , if the mark would be visible even after
surgery, and do any one would be able to recognise by seeing at his
face that a surgery has been performed after the wounds heal.

sincerely yours

rajesh.

Dear Rajesh,

If the operation is performed well, the scar that forms will not disfigure him
beyond recognition.

Whenever surgery is done, there is always a scar left behind but the Plastic
Surgeon has numerous techniques to hide the scar from obvious visibility.
