dear dr hamid...
i like to ask about male infertility...
one couple went to check of infertility because after almost 3 years
of marriage, they have no children
the result shows that the wife(age 33) is okay...but the husband
(age 33) shows that there is no sperms at all in the semen..or call
as azoospermia, is it corrcet doctor?
so they ask the doctors whether anything that can do to treat...the
doctor says nonthing can be done...is it correct?
its quite hard for me to accept that there is no treatment at all.
the husband before this was quite a heavy smoker since teenager..is
it because of that there is no sperm at all in the semen...
doctor could you explain the cause of azoospermia and the treatment
can be done...so that the couple would have chance to have baby.
thank you...
from
a helpful sister...
Dear Norlaily,
Yes. Azoospermia means NO sperm production by the male testes. He has to be
examined by a Urologist to find the cause of the azoospermia. If no specific
cause is found from the examination and tests then it is the sperm cells itself
that is defective and unfortunately there is no treatment for this. But if there
is tube blockage of varicocoele then there is some operation that the
Urologist/Andrologist can do to help.
Good Luck
Dr Hamid
