Dear Dr.Hamid,

I am writing this on behalf of my 27 year old sister. Her periods
has been very irregular from the start. She doesn't get periods for
two or three months together, and then when it comes, continues for
nearly 3 to 4 weeks. Due to this, she becomes very pale and weak
because of blood loss and then has to be given blood. She had her
last periods sometime in Jan, which lasted for 16 days and has not
had any since then. The days keep changing and she doesn't get them
anywhere near to the previous days mostly. Could you please advise
if this is a serious complication or if it is common. Also please
advise if this affetcs her ability to have kids later. Can you
adviise any medicines to regularise the periods? We are planning to
get her married soon however, she is too shy to see a doctor.

We are very concerned, hence please advise.

Dear Gopal,

Bleeding from anywhere is potentially a serious condition and in her case there
could be many reasons she is having irregular heavy bleeding.She should see a
Gynaecologist for physical examination and treatment.
