hi doctor. i have a tiny white sore in my mouth where the gum meets the tissue
of my top lip. i recently quit dipping. my question is could this possibly be
leukoplakia or a cancerous growth event though it is not in the spot where i
held the tobacco? it is a little sore but it gets a little less bothersome each
day. today is the fourth day it has been present. Thanks, Cody
Dear Cody,
White spots in the mouth of a smoker could e either a leukoplakia(which means
white plague-a precursor to cancer) or a cancer a cancer itself. You mouth need
to be examined by an Oral or Dental Surgeon quickly and they will perhaps
perform a biopsy of the white spot to diagnose exactly the nature of the
disease.
Good Luck
Dr Hamid
