Insect Repellent

This insect repellent recipe is a natural alternative to chemical
sprays. It works best on days when the mosquitoes are only slightly
to moderately hungry.
If they're voracious, a stronger concoction will have to be sought.

2 cups witch hazel
1 1/2 t. essential oil of citronella or lemongrass
1 T. apple cider vinegar

Combine all ingredients in a 16 oz spray bottle or two 8 oz bottles.
Shake vigorously. Requires no refrigeration. Apply liberally as
needed. Keep away from eyes, nose and mouth. Good for all skin
types. Use as needed Shake well before use. Store in spritzer
bottle. Makes about 50 applications for entire body.
Has a light fresh fragrance.

Try Bitter Orange essential oil as a replacement for the more
expensive Neroli.
Neroli comes from the blossoms of the Bitter Orange tree.

Bitter Orange
Botanical name Citrus aurantium/
Extraction Method: Cold Pressed Parts Used: the peel of the almost
ripe fruit

Bitter Orange oil is very unusual, fresh and yet 'bitter' in the
sense of 'dry,' but with a rich and lasting, sweet undertone. An oil
sure to lift your spirits and make you smile. A wonderful oil to
calm nervousness.
There are notes that which may remind you of bergamot, grapefruit
and sweet orange, but overall, the odor is distinctly different from
that of other citrus oils. It is a different type of freshness, a
peculiar floral undertone which occasionally shows indolic notes and
a comparatively good intensity.

Bitter Orange oil is used extensively in flavors where it forms the
main ingredient in the 'orange sec' or 'triple sec' liqueur flavors.
Blends well with and Lavender, Rosemary, Clary sage, Oakmoss and
Lavendin

Orange oil blends well with spicy oils like Coriander and Cinnamon,
also with Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang, Neroli and other citrus oils. The
best oil comes from organically grown fruit as chemical pesticides
are passed along through the cold pressing of the peel.

Cautions: Photosensitizing Do not use on skin before going out in
sun or tanning booth

Today's Tip
A Pomade is a thick, rich mixture
of oil and wax that is great for
softening dry hands and feet.
Easily made with beeswax and carrier oil.

20 drops essential oils
15 gm beeswax
100 ml carrier oil

Place all ingredients in a heat resistant bowl.
Stir over a pan of boiling water until melted.
Remove bowl from the pan. Keep stirring.
As the mixture cools add your essential oils.
When thickened transfer to sterilized jars.

I thought this looked interesting.
  Mineral Mud Bath

Mud is one of nature's enriching cleansers -- drawing out the
negative ions from the skin. This is as great mix for
relieving conditions such as rheumatism and arthritis and skin
problems such as
acne and eczema.

2 drops sandalwood oil
1T. carrier oil
1 cup natural clay
1 cup ground oats
1/2 cup avocado oil

Run a warm bath. Dilute the Sandalwood oil in the carrier oil, then
mix all
the ingredients together to make a delicious body mud. Smooth the
mud over
the body while standing in the bath or shower. Allow the nourishing
avocado oil
to absorb into the skin by sitting on a chair or on the side of the
bath for a
few minutes. When dry, submerge the body in the warm bath water and
allow the

Make a warm compress with 4 drops of essential oils
added to warm water and apply to the neck area.
Use any soft cloth. Repeat as needed.
The oils to try are Lavender, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus
Cypress, Clary Sage and Sandalwood. Try a combination of
a few for a total of 4 drops od eo's.

This makes a nice antiseptic spray.

   1/8           tsp  each: Lemon and Tea Tree essential oils
   1/2            oz  tincture of goldenseal -- Oregon grape or
barberry bark

   1 1/2          oz  Aloe Vera

Combine ingredients in a jar and shake well twice daily for a week to
help disperse oils. Keep in an atomizer. Shake before each use.

When ankles swell during your plane trip or upon arrival at your

apply a compress of lavender to your feet. Keep a hankie with 5

Appetite Suppressing Inhalant

15 drops Bergamot oil
10 drops Fennel oil

Drop the bergamot and fennel oils in small glass bottle with
airtight cover; gently turn bottle over or roll between your hands
to blend. Inhale directly from container as needed.

Aromatherapy and Weight Loss

Juniper Essential Oil: Juniper will help to detoxify the body.

Fennel Essential Oil: Fennel is a diuretic.

Rosemary Essential Oil: Rosemary will help to stimulate the
lymphatic system, which helps to enable the body to remove waste
products.

Applications:

Use these oils as a massage and in baths (to include foot baths).

Caution: Rosemary and fennel oils must not be used by those with
high blood pressure or epilepsy.

Snoring and Aromatherapy
Anything that helps you breathe better at night may reduce your
snoring.

Marjoram oil is widely believed to be the most appropriate oil for
snorers. Typically sold in a jar; the oil saturates a sort of
sponge.  You leave the jar open by your bedside, allowing the oils
to gradually fill your bedroom with a pleasant scent.

Effectiveness:
We are not aware of any clinical studies proving the effectiveness
of aromatherapy for snoring but have received some apparently
genuine endorsements.  "My husband has snored for twenty years...so
loud I can hear him through a closed door," wrote one of our
readers. "Friday night I bought a jar of marjoram and a jar of
lavender, opened it up...and HIS SNORING STOPPED....."

Lemon Mint Window Wash
For the shiniest windows ever!
Ingredients:

Juice from one fresh Lemon
2 Cups water or Club Soda
1/2 teaspoon Peppermint essential oil
1 teaspooon Cornstarch
Mix all ingredients and pour into a plastic spray bottle. Shake
before using. Try using sheets of black and white newspaper, it
shines without steaking.An old home remedy.
