RE: [Arachnoiditis] Cone Snail Venom for pain pump

We are talking 1000 times more powerful than morphine in a raw form, but your math is a little flawed.  Remember, the math on meds directly into the spine is that there is somewhere between a 200 and 300 % increase in the drug's effectiveness.  Medtronix claims 300% reduction in drug, and medical tests show that drugs taken IV or orally have over 97 % of them filtered out by the brain, kidneys and liver, but when they go directly to the spot of the pain, it hits the pain before the brain, kidneys etc, so it is way way more powerful. I think I mentioned that there are patients in my clinic who are on one mic per day and nothing else. I would not doubt that Jay is getting some relief at 1 mic per day, and may only need 3 or 4 mics total.  I think the most anyone in the clinic is on is maybe 6.  Remeber, this little snail can paralyze your entire body with a little sting, and the snails are evolving so quickly that one of the farm snails, Big Bertha, in New York can kill  a human in under 30 minutes (estimated) and has produced over 100 different toxins by herself as they have changed her surroundings and food type.  She is a Conus Magus, the most powerful of the cone snails, several of the companies are using other cousins of the species.  This medicine is stable because it is a synthetic version of an amino acid from the toxins from several years ago.  The snails that are in the few labs that milk them rather than harvest wild snails and kill them, (pushing some cousins toward extinction) are becoming more powerful.  Not evil James Bond evil take over the gold market, oil market or rule the world powerful, but their toxins have gone from  being able to kill a human in an estimated 2 hours to an estimated 30 minutes.  Many scientists have stated that these snails may be the fastest evolving thing on earth.  Whatever the case, as sciantists get smarter, computers become more powerful and medicine becomes more advanced, this medication, or variations thereof, will be come so powerful that it will literally take millionths of grams whatever they are called.  I probably knew what they were called at one point, but you know opiates and other drugs have burned me out dudes and dudeettes, I am sure Keith knows what they are.

By the way, Keith.  2 things, haws the foot, or lack thereof healing up? Have they got you a good carbon fiber prosthetic yet?  and have you tried the new drug made specifically for neuropathic pain caused by diabetes?  it was just approved in the US in December, the same day as prialt.  It is called lyrica(Phizer's retail name) or pregabalin (generic name).  It is supposed to be extremely effective, and again, the first new drug made specifically for its purpose in hundreds of years.  The other drugs like cymbalta or neurontin etc are drugs that were made for some other purpose, then re-tested for pain.  This drug was designed from the start for this purpose.  Anyway, gotta go.  Let me know whats up Jay, and Keith and everyone else who is considering or are already using these drugs.

Until we all join up, make a secret underground cavern full of henchman in matching jumpsuits so that we can take over the world with our trained snails,

Brent

Subject: Re: [Arachnoiditis] Cone Snail Venom for pain pump

Thank you Jay for the news about the Prialt. Haven't heard from Brent
for at least 2 weeks now. I will phone him in the morning. Just to
put the dose of Prialt in perspective.

Prior to Prialt, the most potent pain medication for the burning pain
of Arachnoiditis has been Fentanyl. The smallest effective dose is 25
mcgs per hour absorbed through the skin. That is what I have.

If your 1 mcg of Prialt is equally effective, that 1 mcg would be the
equivalent in pain reduction power of 12,600 mcgs of Fentanyl - about
7 Fentanyl patches.

MY bet is Jay that to get you through, you will need a lot more than
1 mcg -  at least 10 - 20 mcgs of Prialt before you feel much relief.
Thereason for my thinking is that the belief by the researchers was,
last I read, a couple of years ago, that the venom was about 1000
times more potent than morphine and we know that Fentanyl is 100
times more potent than Morphine.

The math would indicate that your doctor is be giving you such a
small dose that it won't be effective and it would be best if it
wasn't given mixed with other drugs. Let's hope that the latest data
from the tests and your results says that even that 1 mcgs will be
effective. I know I felt massive relief from the patch within 10
hours, once it was absorbed properly.

Anybody else with a pump installed? Anyone else with Prialt
experience? Anyone with a hihg level of pain that would be willing to
try Prialt and needs data for their doctor?

regards

goldeneagle

Morphine is perhaps the toughest drug to use as it heavily clouds the thinking process. It reduces pain by dulling all of your senses. Fentanyl and Prialt stop...
