Hi to all. I just want to comment on the morphine pump. I have only had mine for one month and what a God send it has been. I also have adhesive arachnoiditis and have had it for 3 years. Mine was caused by a fall were I worked and then a ton of epidural's and then the numerous back surgeries until my doc said no more surgeries and we went for the pump. The trial was so good that I could not wait for the week after it to get the real thing. I am still swollen alot but that is ok. I am also down to 6 pills a day instead of 20 some. Ok this is all the longer I can sit. God bless to all.Becky P.

Hi Brent,
Sorry to hear you are in the condition you are in. My daughter, Theresa, was 39 years old when her pump was implanted. Prior to the implant, she spent almost 2 years in the wheelchair. Lo and behold, 2 days after the surgery she was on her feet walking and has not stopped since. Also, she was taking 36 pills a day. Now she takes 3 or 4 and is alert and not walking around in a drug dazed condition. She also had not driven a vehicle for 5 years. Following the surgery we installed hand controls in the car and she has been driving since then. She would be the first to tell you - go for it! She has arachnoiditis, RSD, plus a long list of other diagnoises related to this horrorific condition.

Thanks for your reply.I have tried every pill the docs can think of. Currently, I take a ton of oxycontin, oxycodone, neurontin etc.I also use some patches and a spinal chord stimulator. The Dr suggested a pump, but at 37 years old, I feel like I am too young. No disability attorneys want to get involved yet because they would not make any money because they are only going to classify me disabled as of a couple of months ago when I lost my own businesses.Due to the 5 month wait, there would really be no lump some check and that is where their pay comes from.If I have to appeal and go to a judge, they will be happy to do it.
I see the best pain people in Utah currently, I am not sure what else I can do besides remove the stimulator and put in a pump, which I am afraid to do. I have a malpractice attorney looking over my records to see if he thinks that there is a case, he is very, very good. The statute of limitations in Utah is 7 years.
Thanks again.

Hi, My name is Don Goeglein. I too have the same condition as you. My Arachnoiditis was caused by a bad surgery. From what I understand you have 24 months to claim a Mal practice law suite. It sounds like you have a real strong case. Go see the best law firm in your area that handles Mal practice. I got my SSI the first time and three weeks later had a ck. I hired a lawyer that took $5000.00 out of my lump sum check that I received. I did not want to play the game that they like to play so that is why I hired a lawyer in the first place. I do not know of anyone that with out a lawyer got approved the first time but know of plenty that did with a lawyer.
What do you do for pain? I had a morphine pump implanted and it made my life worth living with en two weeks. I too was put out to pasture by the doctor but then I found a ARACHNOIUDITIS doctor that had me 75% pain free with en two weeks and then 98% pain free within 2 months. It took 8 doctors to get the right one. Look for a pain clinic that specialized in ARACHNOIDITIT. I Just called them all and finally got to the right one. I played the work comp game way too long before I took the bull by the horn and got a REAL doctor. If you lived in St. Louis I could steer you right in to him.... bjryther <Bryther@...> wrote:
Hello, My name is Brent and I live in Utah. I have had 7 surgeries including a spinal cord stim. I have had 3 Myleograms, and over 25 epidural injections. That is all in the last 2 years. Last week, a surgeon told me I have severe adhesive arachnoiditis at several levels of my lumbar spine. ( all the levels covered by the last ct myleogram I had 8 weeks ago) The last two years of pain have cost me the 5 companies I had owned due to not being able to run them properly. It just cost me about the least physically demanding job I could ever hope for last week. I started the process to get ssdi also last week. I have a letter from my employer saying I am unable to physically perform my job. I also have 2 Dr.s who will write letters for me saying I am disabled and have the disease. I realize that most people get turned down the first, and even second time through, I am trying to improve my chances. Is there anything in particular that the Dr.'s can write in their letters to improve my chances?
My other question is this, has anyone had any success with malpractice? If a Myleogram I had 20 months ago showed this problem, and the Dr. missed it and kept sticking needles in me, would that not be considered malpractice?
