Water Fasting For Weight Loss   Message List

It's a common misconception among the many people who try one diet
after another that drinking less water can speed up weight loss. Since
our bodies store water in tissues, the basic thinking is that the less
water you drink, the faster you would reach your desired weight
without pesky grams added by simply drinking a glass of water. Sounds
simple, clear and workable, but things don't actually work out that way.

Water fasting for weight loss is a very serious thing because water is
one of the most important things that the body needs from the outside
world. All the forms of life known to man depend on water and even the
human body is at least 70 percent water. While food fasting is a
well-known practice that can be sustained over a number of days
without serious side effects, water fasting is not the same thing.

Losing as little as 3-5 percent of your body water can send you
directly to the hospital with a bad case of dehydration. And even if
you don't get that far, which, luckily, many people fail to do, there
are still some side effects that you should take into account before
doing something as risky as water fasting. It's very important to know
what the symptoms of dehydration are in order to recognize the problem
early on.

The first sign that you're not getting enough water is very likely to
be dizziness and/or headaches. Without enough water to maintain the
tissues the body starts to suffer and, since water is used to cool the
body through perspiration, the internal temperature starts to rise and
the internal organs start to fry. Water is also the main component in
the blood plasma, which means that blood pressure drops precipitously.
The heart and respiration rate will increase to compensate.

Basically, if you're persistent in your water fasting for weight loss
attempt, you'll end up in the following situation: your head hurts,
your mouth is dry, you are very thirsty and weak, you can't stand up
without fainting, your heart is beating like crazy and you breathe
very quickly, thus worsening the loss of water. Does this sound like a
good way to lose weight to you? Because it sure as hell doesn't sound
like one to me.

The biggest problem, however, is the fact that you will find it very
hard to stick to your water fasting. When your mouth is so dry you
can't chew food, you are going to reach out for a glass of water,
fasting or no fasting. I know that breaking a promise is bad, but
trying to go without enough water is worse so go ahead and drink all
the water you want because it will do you good.

And if you really want an argument in favor of water just think that
digestion suffers if you don't drink enough water. Therefore, without
water you cannot get all the proteins and vitamins your body needs.
Fast and thorough digestion depends on hydration and hydration keeps
you alive and well.
