It is not that bad being blind. I can do most things that a sighted person can do. If I did not have the headaches and the memory loss from the hydrocelephas then I would be able to live on my own. I lived on my own in Denver for a while but my health went down the tubes again and I needed to come back to my treating doctors here in Chicago.I am back living with my parents in Chicago. It is sort of nice I have a bedroom and a really nice sitting room where I can do a lot of things. It is almost like having my own apartment without the kitchen. Also here I have my dog. he is not a seeing eye dog but he is a really cool dog and he is really smart. we go on walks every day when it is nice outside. He always brings me back to the house. Anyway, I like it here just wish that the transportation was available for me so I could get around. But it is nice. In the summer my dog and I sit out on the deck which over looks the river but I guess near us it is more like a stream. Charlie loves to be out on the deck he barks at the wildlife outside and he loves to sunbath himself. I used to love to cook but the appliances in the house are digital so I can't use them so I have not done any cooking since I came back from Denver. I used to travel around the place by myself in Denver using public transportation but out here where I live in the suburbs there is no transportation. So I am reliant on my parents which is okay I guess. But all in all going to Denver helped me accept my blindness and learn that I can do any thing that a sighted person can do just differently. Hope that you are having a good day.
Laura
