I'm sorry to hear you've got advanced arac.
I've also been a friend of Bill W for 15 years. I've given a lot of thought to taking the meds necessary to at least have a somewhat decent quality of life. Please remember that you have one of the most debilitating diseases known to man. It's okay to take medicine as prescribed. You seem to have a good sense of that. God didn't want us to live life in excruciating pain.
This is a man made disease, and there are treatments and meds out there which can give you some comfort..I've had good relief from a pain pump. I recently had a spinal stimulator implanted. They work well for some people, but mine hasn't done muchfor me. I also take a regimen of oral meds. The tough part is finding a balance where you are still alert, but the pain is at an acceptable level. Unfortunately, I know that I will never be pain free again.
Try to keep a positive attitude. Email me directly if you'd like,
Regards,
Jay

Well I guess I answered my own question. The MRI shows stage 3
adhesive arac. I am scared, lost, and do not know what to do next. At
least I feel a little less crazy, because the doctor started acting
like I was a "drug seeking" patient for pain meds. I am sober 13 years
now, and never took more than a tylonol for pain...this is not a good
place for me-any advice on what is best for pain management?
Thanks!
